just to revisit this topic, many are and have been so many of us that continue to be frustrated with the collection practices and abuses they are experiencing from creditors and collection agencies.
here is the direct link to the form you need to complete it to the Federal Trade Commission. it will go directly to them and it does work! trust me! i have personally filed out at least 20 of them. however, it was because we were rec'ing calls on our new phone number for the old owner of that number who owed EVERYONE! we rec'd at least 30 calls a day, and i'm not kidding here! wells fargo, boa, discover card, chase, citi, mom and pop's dry cleaners. it was NUTS. so finally when i would i would receive a call, i would ask them hold on for a moment, get on my computer had the link bookmarked and then just started asking THEM questions to help me complete the form. when i was done i would hit click and then tell them they have been turned into the FTC and i hope they get a HUGE fine if not a vigorous scolding!
also remember, a creditor does have a right to attempt to collect on money they are owned, they just can't abuse the process, i.e. like calling your mom in a different town 10 times when you don't live there and she has told them over and over you do not reside there and to stop calling. etc.
