My collection calls have dropped drastically

I was getting 10 to 20 calls a day during much of 2011 (For seven cards in default). Ever since Bank Of America filed suit a few months ago (still in the Court system), the calls have gone to a trickle. I might get 1 or 2 a day, some days I have none. What gives here. Does the notice that BOA filed a lawsuit appear on my credit report or something, and the others are waiting to see how it plays out. Their is definately a strong relationship for when I found out Bank of America was suing and when the calls dropped off.

The collection calls naturally drop off after awhile.

With each passing day, your accounts become less and less likely to ever be paid back at all, and the creditors know this.

The debt becomes worth less and less with each passing day.

This is why old charged off debts are sold off to junk debt buyers for pennies on the dollar, rather than full face value. They know the vast majority of them will never be repaid.

They try to devote the bulk of their resources to the fresh newly defaulted debts which still have a snowball's chance in Phoenix of ever being collected, and so they call these people more than they are now calling you.

It has been so long for me now that I no longer get any calls from any creditors nor any collection agencies at all.
    The world's simplest C & D Letter:
"I demand that you cease and desist from any communication with me."
Notice that I never actually mention or acknowledge the debt in my letter.

I am now one year into not paying and my only calls are from Dell, not to say they won't start up again.

Year and a half and I get at least one call a day.
        Sometimes a half dozen.

Wait 6 years, and you won't hear a peep out of them.

Actually, in my case, the calls all stopped at about 3 to 4 years after I stopped paying them.

I stopped paying most of my accounts in late 2006 to mid 2007. I seldom hear from any of them. I have two judgments ($20K+) and I don't even hear from them. I have a good job, but I'm on a "permanent" 15% student loan garnishment, maybe for life. LOL

Received a couple of 1099's for debt that were approaching the SOL.

Many of my unsecured accounts are SOL, but I still have 12 or so months on a few. I don't think I will see any more suits.

I never hid or ignored creditor or collection calls, and I seldom heard from any OC/CA/JDB after the first three years.

I'll tell you another thing, after being sued, neither my wife nor I ever gets called for jury duty. Coincidence? I think not.

That's interesting! I haven't been called for jury duty lately, either.
