Hi just curious if a bank can get private utility payment records when going for a house loan? Assuming you were a few months late and it was not reported on your credit. I then made payment arrangements to pay off the balance due.
When you fill out a credit application, there is language where you give the potential lender authorization to obtain finanicial information about you. Read that language to see if it seems broad enough to include getting information from your utilities. Even if the authorization allows them to get the information, I suspect they would ask you for copies of your utility account statments and payment records if they want it.
