    Indiana Exemptions?

Can someone point me in the right direction of Indiana exemptions?

I read in 2 different places, 1 says $4000 for wildcard and 1 says $10,000 for wildcard. I'm confused.

This site tends to be up to date on exemptions: http://www.legalconsumer.com/bankrup...-law.php?ST=IN

But, it's always good to check the actual law: http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/cod...ar55/ch10.html

And keep an eye out for provisions like IC 34-55-10-2.5 that require periodic adjustments. It looks like these are the most recent adjustments: http://www.in.gov/dfi/Title_750_10.pdf [I think there is a typo on this document. It shows a $350 exemption for tangible property, but references the code section for intangible property. I think the $350 exemption is really for "Intangible personal property, including choses in action, deposit accounts, and cash (but excluding debts owing and income owing)"].

It looks like there is a $9,350 exemption that can be applied to tangible property and real property other than a residence.

Check with an attorney to confirm what the correct current exemptions are.

You bring up a good point here. Many internet sites don't update their exemptions. I live in Washington state and the exemptions were changed in 2011 and I have found on the internet exemptions dating back to 2001. Example: Real Estate exemption is now $125.000 here and alot of sites still are posting 40k.
