We got a letter from the court saying that we have a Status Hearing on July 23. What is a status hearing?
The court has scheduled an official meeting to discuss the status of your bankruptcy. Have you had any objections filed against your case by a creditor or trustee? Did you file with a lawyer? If you did, what does your lawyer say?
Does this involve a lawsuit with Countrywide? Normally a judge will issue a status hearing to find out exactly where the case stands at the present time...... (whether your appealing, fighting the case, etc)
A status hearing in bankruptcy is where the judge calls for a hearing with the trustee or pro-se (debtor filer). The judge is looking for objections, etc and wants to know why the case has taken so long to expidite.
My judge called 3 staus hearings on my trustee to explain "his" actions during my bankruptcy. I did not have to appear, but I could have if I had wanted to. I read all about it in my Pacer account where the paperwork was filed.....
When are you planning to file......

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
