I'm working on my Chapter 7 budget, and I had a question for y'all.
Apparently, I need about $7,000 worth of dental work. And I believe it! I've "deferred maintenance" for a few years, so a crown needs to be replaced, another tooth needs a crown, and I need the deep cleanings, etc. The expenses are legitimate and not cosmetic.
Is it suspicious if I put down $580/month ($7000/12) for dental expenses? It really will cost that much, and I do have a treatment plan for it.
And how do I come up with a medical budget? My max out of pocket is $1,200. Should I just divide that by 12 and add it to the dental expenses? As I very quickly learned last year, all it takes is ONE routine procedure to eat that up (appendectomy, in my case).
I'd ask my lawyer, and I plan to, but I'm trying to do the "homework" he gave me. And, unfortunately, many bankruptcy firms are "bankruptcy mills" -- even the ones with real local offices like the one I'm using -- so they seem to just want to get you in and out as quickly as possible.
