That is 100% false. All debt that arose before the filing of the case is discharged unless it is excepted from discharge. The exceptions are very specific and are generally related to taxes, fines, domestic support obligations, fraud, and government student loans.
I don't know why anyone would say medical debt is never discharged. It's not even listed in the exceptions. The only way medical debt wouldn't be discharged if it occurred after the date that the debtor filed or the creditor could prove fraud; I don't know if I've ever seen fraud in a medical debt. (In limited Chapter 7 circumstances it could not be discharged if not listed and the case was an asset case.)Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10
