hoping someone has experience with roomates that is not a steady one. he stays sometime and pays when he has some money. I did not list as income because i never know when he is going to stay and if he is paying anything.

That makes it complicated but any amounts contributed over the last 6 months before filing, should be included in your calculation of current monthly income. You add all of it up, divide by 6, and use that number as the monthly amount. At least that is what we do in Florida. In that way you can counter any Trustee concerns.
