Another Collection Agency Calling My Parents

Guys, I'm almost ready to go nuts - I'm having a hard time finding a place to move my daughter and I to, plus now yet another collection agency calls - ACS - my parent's house and tells my dad I need to call him ASAP about a matter - says he needs to talk to me before he makes a major legal decision.

I'm so panicked I'm having a hard time working, let alone studying for my classes. I see my attorney on Friday and I hope and pray that my divorce will NOT be able to hold this bankruptcy up any longer. My own father says he's getting nuts over these calls - I feel so bad that they're digging up my parent's phone number..all I want to do is crawl in bed and not get out.

This divorce has left me so financially ruined - I can't even find it in me to find time to do stuff with my daughter without worrying. And, she knows it too.

Come in and vent here anytime, Hopeful. You are going through a real rough patch right now - when the phone is ringing off the hook, your parents have been dragged into the nasty calls, and you are reeling from divorce...well, that's enough to bring the strongest person to their knees. If your parents have caller ID, tell them to stop answering the phone unless it's a number they recognize. You send this latest yokel the "cease and desist all contact with myself and parents immediately except by mail" registered, return-receipt letter too. Keep a diary of all the calls you receive after that.

Even though everything seems totally overwhelming at the moment, it will get better. Hopefully you will feel better after talking with the lawyer in a few days. As many of us who have been where you are right now can share, you will smile and enjoy life with your wonderful daughter again. Hang in there!

Do your parents have the same last name as you?

Or are all your accounts under your married name? Do you live in a small town? I just don't see how they can find people's parents. Why don't you tell them you are filing? I went from 20 calls/day to zero once I told my creditors I was filing bankruptcy. And it has been 3 mos, no letters, no lawsuits, no phone calls. I would call them and tell them, oh but wait, they will want to know your attorney's name........I would find an attorney asap and pay the small retainer fee so you can tell your creditors.

lrprn, I just feel so out of control, like nothing is in my power to fix, change, or deal with.

I have a 16 year old daughter, and my stbx has nothing to do with her. I'm a full time parent on top of working, college and now this bankruptcy. He makes no moves to see my side of this and has been heard whining how 'his' life is ruined. There are days I sit back in amazement at what the heck I thought was anything worth it on him to ever have married him.

I'm so overwhelmed today that I can't hardly see straight. I need a change of environment - we both do - so bad that it's killing us. We live here in the marital home and I can hardly stomach coming here anymore. I can't find a place in a complex due to my credit and most places I like that I go to see are way too expensive.

I'm almost ready to just give up. I'm just so overwhelmed today. I'm so embarrassed that my parents are now involved in this. They know I'm having to file bankruptcy, but it's just the fact they have it in their faces now. They're worried to death about me and my daughter with the divorce alone, and now I'm declaring I'm broke - and looking for a place to stay.

I'm now off to school to take 2 tests..this should be fun. I hope my mind is ready.
