Whats Happens if someone owes you

money? Ex owes me a few thousand in reimbursements for expenses for the chidlren although he is arguing he does not. What happens to that money if I file.

when I went to my meeting before the trustee I had a friend that owed me $750 and the trustee just asked if I thought I should see when he could pay me back. It is not as much as you are looking at but mine did not seem to be an issue with them.

If the money is court-ordered child support, then he has to pay it and you can take your spouse to court to make that happen. Your bankruptcy will include that court-ordered support payment in your income figures.

However, if this is money that you spent on a verbal agreement between the two of you that your spouse would pay you back, then your chances of seeing it are about 0.01% and your filing doesn't effect it. However, if you have filed but haven't had your 341 meeting yet, and then he for some reason suddenly decides to pay you back in one lump sum of a few thousand, then your trustee may ask the right question during your 341 and you may have to give that cash up to the trustee (but that isn't very likely).
