    Expenses list...

I know this is probably on the board somewhere, but I just cannot seem to find it after searching exhaustively.

Can someone here who has gone through a BK please put together an accurate list of all expenses that I should be figuring into the equation. Beyond the obvious of course.

I'm just not sure about things such as meals, entertainment, cleaning, etc. Or maybe we are not allowed those things once we file :p BREAD and WATER for you!! LOL

Anyway, I just thought a good consice list for everyone here would help is all.

    Thanks

Do you have a Bankruptcy Forms packet yet. Schedule J contains the list of expenses you can claim.

However, in the "other category" a good one is "Hygiene and Grooming."

a related question that I didn't want to dedicate to an entire new thread. Is there a general guideline for expenses? as in, will they say I'm spending too much on a certain category and force me to state less than my actual expenses? example. I wanted to put $450 for food because I figured I spend about $15 per day, but when I look at the total it seems extragavant.

If you want extravagant I've three teenage boys i can lease you for a month! My Grocery bill runs $250.00 to $300.00 per week! They are eating me out of house and home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, $110.00 per week is not extravagant for one individual.

The IRS has some tables regarding what they allow as monthly expenses, (which incidently will be the tables they use under the new BK law to determine if your expenses are reasoanble).

They are the tables that that IRS uses to determine monthly payment of taxes when you are delinquent or otherwise need a payment plan.

I don't have a link, but if someone can track it down, that would be very helpful.

Awesome, Thank you for the link NewDay. That was a question I had too. I didn't want to go to my attorney with a list of expenses and he laugh at me for going overboard on my estimates. LOL

What do you single people eat? I live in a city with a high cost of living, and I eat out at least twice a week, once at a fairly nice place, and I still only spend $200 a month on food.

                    Lightening.....
Didn't you know the younger generation "does not cook"! Many don't even know how too...
Many eat all three meals a day out at the "drive thru" - "junk food" places.
Many spend $10.00 - $15.00 or more a day for food, pop, bottled water, gum, candy, etc. Not including pizza and beer on the weekends.
If you only spend $200.00 you sure aren't eating much. Is $200.00 your groceries + eating out or just eating out money.
These kids are buying junk food for "home" too!

Robiv3 "knows" all about feeding teenagers!!!

I live in Florida and I'm spending about 150 a week for groceries. This is for myself and my boyfriend, and that is basically only for dinners. Food is not cheap. If I bought enough food for all 3 meals, it would be too expensive, especially when you tack on toiletries. I don't know how you are doing it, Lightning, but you almost sounded condescending when you asked what us "single people were eating." It is expensive to eat and have laundry detergent, and shampoo, and soap, and everything else we need. Take a look at the big picture and don't assume that just because you have a 200 a month food bill that the rest of single America should too.

                        FOR SURE "FLORIDA GIRL".......
$50.00 a week would hardly cover Robivi3's soda pop bill and toilet tissue bill for the week, lol, and my "dog food" bill for the week!!
I'm single and I easly spend $100.00 a week just myself. Course that covers, dog food, toiletries (shampoo, etc) and supplies (tissues, paper towels, cleaning supplies). Course some items you just buy once in a while, but basic food items you buy every week.
Nowdays - a gallon of milk, loaf of bread, and lb of balogna is $6.00 or more.
Sounds like "somebody" is feeding Lightening on occassions....
You know - stopping at mom and dad's at suppertime to say HELLO, and running by a friends house at "just the right time", lol. I did it when I was younger, too. And now the younger ones do it to me.
Last time I spent $50.00 a week on grocery was back in 1980 probably.

$200 a month includes groceries and dining. I don't buy soda. I don't buy junk food. When I go to a fast food place, I can get a meal for $2-4. I don't get the "value meals" since I don't want the soda and huge portions. Most of the time I pack my lunch for work. When was the last time you guys packed a lunch more often than you ate out?

Not only do I spend less and save more, but I'm sure I weight a whole lot less too.

Lightning, my parents food budget was about $200 a month back in 1975 when I was 11. It's good you can stick to a budget like that. Here in NY it cost $200 a month just for the dirty air we breath, never mind the food. I was wondering why you are even involved with BK since you know how to budget so well. I will admit if I can budget like you I wouldn't be thinking about BK.

                              Food Expenses

My my. It sounds like some of us had grumpy pie for desert today!! I do not think that people who are filing bankruptcy need to be mean!!!

I know that I live in Las Vegas and when we filed our chapter 13 the trustee would only allow $450 for food for a family of two. That may not seem like much but I actually started watching what I was buying and what was on sale and we are doing ok with it. I think you will be hard pressed to find a trustee who is going to allow four or five hundred for one person, old, young, fat or skinny!!

                              PS Why the weight comment????
