Question about median income for each state...

In looking at an online example for the median test for NC, I saw this:

Median State Income for North Carolina
    1 earner (dollars) $33265
    2-person families $44625
    3-person families $50528
    4-person families $59481
    5-person families $52308
    6-person families $47646
    7-or-more-person families $47940
*Add $6,300 for each individual in excess of 4.

So, if my husband is now working and I'm collecting unemployment and we have a six year old son, we fall under the 3 person family above with a median of $50,528 - is this correct?

Also, if my husband's gross weekly paycheck (just the base, no overtime, etc.) is $660 and the net is $445 which figure do you use to calculate, the gross or net? Do you have to count any overtime for each week even if it's not guaranteed that he will even have overtime? I'm confused. Thanks again for the assistance!

Always count gross - not net.
You are way under the $50528 median wage threshhold, even with whatever you're getting in unemployment.
$660 a week (gross) only amounts to $34320.
Unless he really rakes in overtime, double time/other incentive pays you will most certainly never even come close to the median wage threshhold.

We may not be under yet. Up until the end of August/first of September I made about 2500 per month and since October have made 406 per week so I guess I have a couple of months before my 6 month average would be lowered (?). Also he has been making decent overtime in the last few months. Where his pay could range anywhere from the 445 to 650 (net). So they do take overtime into consideration? If so, that stinks since you can't always rely on that - there was about a 2 to 3 year period where his employer pretty much cut out any overtime. Guess I just need to see what the attorneys say tomorrow. Wish us luck!
