How long to hear back from attorney after providing paperwork?

I just sent off all of the requested info, check stubs, tax returns, etc. to our attorney on Thursday. About how long to they usually take to get back to you?

I'll ping him on Monday just to ask, but I'm curious to see what the general time frame is.

    Hi Emma,

I just turned in my paperwork too on Monday. Waiting to hear back as well. I gave everything to his paralegal and my attorney told me that she was going to go through it all to make sure I have everything and then she'll send a letter to each creditor informing them to that we intend to file bk.

Sounds like we are in the same (waiting) boat, I'll let you know if I hear anything first...

I'd wait 'till Thursday of next week to call. They probably will not even look at it until Monday.

Unless your case has some sort of emergency going on as to having an early filing date, give the attorney's office a few weeks (10 business days) at least to get all information calculated and finalized for your signature. If it goes beyond that, call them and find out why the delay.

Just turned mine in Yesterday. The admin. took the info and said she would start to enter it all in. I would hate to have that job. We brought in around 400 pages of stuff, but she said some people bring in BOXES of paperwork. Holy crap. I want this over so bad.

The only thing I had to send was 3 yrs worth of income taxes, vehicle pay off, vehicle registration, auto insurance declaration page, list of creditors, renters insurance declaration page, and addresses for the past 3 yrs.

ours took THREE MONTHS! no kidding! i called a couple of times, but they kept saying, "it takes time." whateva. they finally got to it when i told them i was gonna leave the country and would like to file before doing so! sheesh. kinda turned out better for us anyways, as far as timing goes.

I think it depends on how big the firm is or isn't and how many cases he has to handle. My attorney is from a large firm, and they have 1000's of cases, but it didn't take that long for me.

WOW. I really hope I don't go a month without hearing from her. I still have a few things to turn in, but I wanna get this moving fast. When I drop off the other stuff, I will find out when this will get going. At any rate, I need a little time to save up the rest of the atty fees. $850 down, $1,150 to go.

I dropped mine off about May 28th. The only update I have had is that mine was in the next batch of cases the paralegal was working on. Hoping to hear something soon, but they told me that the number of cases from early May to the present have gone through the roof. I want to believe them because of all the foreclosures and downturn of the economy, but its starting to get a bit rediculous.

Our paperwork took about a month to complete and now we have more to send over, looking at probably about another couple weeks. They said they are swamped. I think the timing is alright as we are trying to put as much time between one cc transaction and filing.
