    Care Credit?

I need to have surgery done, and my insurance won't cover all of it.

It's probably going to be about $4,000 (my portion) Has anyone used care credit? How bad does it look if we have to include it in the BK? We're not planning on filing until June or so.. So we can make the minimums until then.

But since we don't have 4k just lying around either.. Is that terrible? I really don't know what to do. My doctor said it needs to be done- but i don't want to have a fraud case against me...

    Advice anyone?

Um, since you know you will be filing most people would say that it's fraud. But if no one knows, go for it. I had about 8k on my care credit and it will be discharged, however I had my surgery 1 1/2 years ago. I am saying using it so soon before you file they may object.

Fraud in bankruptcy occurs when you purchase something on credit without the intent to pay it back. If you go ahead and do this be prepared to do some explaining to your attorney because the creditor will probably object and you will probably be asked to explain certain charges over a certain amount for the several months prior to your filing.

You apparently are in financial difficulty now and you may not anyway be able to get approval via Care Credit (I believe it's through GE Money Bank) so be prepared for other options in case that occurs.

      Best of luck to you.

Also, your doctor/hospital can put you on a payment plan with no interest. And medical bills can be discharged as well.
