or down after one files for bankruptcy? Are payments adjusted? I just had my Child support (paid to me) lowered substantially ($1000 per month) and it will be lower again in the near future. I filed a Motion a few months ago for an increase in alimony and Child support (result Child support was lowered. Alimony pending). Matter should be decided in next few months. Children are now college age. Doesn't bankruptcy affect obtaining college loans as a parent? Does it affect my children's ability to obtian student loans?

Yes to the first question, no to the second. I was unable to get a PLUS loan for my kids after BK, but they were able to obtain Federal loans by themselves.Originally posted by howdidithappen View PostDoesn't bankruptcy affect obtaining college loans as a parent? BK payments can be, and are often, adjusted depending on the trustee and the circumstances. If you do a search here, you'll find lots of info about it - but your best bet is to call your attorney.

HDIH, I moved your thread out of the Bankruptcy and Credit News area where you originally posted it to here in the General forum area. The B and CN forum area is to discuss news stories related to bankruptcy and credit, not for personal requests for information about your personal situation.
It looks like your questions are about Ch 13 payments, but since you didn't specify, I moved you to our General forum area just in case.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
