What! The attorney used the wrong SS#

I just got my notice for my 341 meeting the other day and on it my full SS number shows as wrong.
I called the attorney's office and the girl said she had trouble reading the forms we filled out so she guessed!
The are now filing an amendment.
You know, for the amount of money these people are making you would think that they would check other sources they already had like pay stubs, tax filings for the last two years and several other things they already had.
It is true, good help is hard to get.

Guessing on a S.S#? Oh my...did you go over the paperwork you signed with a fine-tooth comb?

The software the attorney uses blocks the SS# and will not print it, or so I was told. It just shows the last four digits.
But when the court sent me the 341 meeting notification it showed the full number and there were two mistakes in the blocked numbers that I could not see when we signed the papers.
The girl in his office that inputs this stuff to their computer system would not have worked long in some of the jobs I worked in as they had to be error free.
For instance I worked over hauling the instrumentation for our nuclear submarines for a number of years. Many cross checks there for safety so there are no wiring mistakes needless to say.
I was not happy to find out 3 weeks post filing that there was a mistake in the SS#.
When we met with the attorney I noted many errors on the paperwork and corrected what I could on it with the attorney. He had her enter the new figures as I submitted them and corrected the pages affected prior to filing later that same day for us.
Like I said, good help is hard to get today.

This is scary! The SS# is one of the most critical items on the BK petition! You will need to watch this paralegal like a hawk - and the attorney for hiring someone that is absolutely careless. It is not the fact that the Social was originally typed in wrong - but the fact that it was "blocked" and did not show in your set of documents that you were reviewing is just baloney! She clearly does not know what she is doing - and that is harmful to you. How can you adaquately review documents with blocked out information?

If I were you, I would download the entire petition from Pacer to see what other mistakes they have made.

          I did better than that.
I went to the office and demanded to see the number on the computer as now amended.
It now shows correctly and I have a copy of the amendment and filing date.

            .

Yea! Great. I hope the paralegal (or whoever did the input) learned a lesson!

Actually it's not baloney - bk software is built to block all but the last 4 digits of the SSN when the forms are printed because the E-Government Act of 2002 as amended in 2004 requires that. See http://www.almd.uscourts.gov/docs/04...r1E-GovAct.pdf - it mentions in several places that the US courts will need to change their practices and use only the last four SSN digits on all filing forms.

This is the reason all filers are required to present their SSN card during the 341 - it's the one time the court has the opportunity to see all nine SSN numbers.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

I thought it was a bunch of BS too until they explained it to me.
But then again, if it's all blocked and even the court cannot see it how did the court send me the 341 notice with our full SS numbers on it?
It was the first document that I saw that showed it.
The court must be able to see it.
And the credit reporting agencies too as they showed the chapter 7 filing the following Monday after we filed the previous Wed.
                Something funny somewhere.
I don't care now, let's just get to the 341 and discharged. It's been a long haul already as many hear know or are about to find out.
26 days to the 341 now.

True, if your SS # was not redacted for publication, then you really should be upset with your attorney.
