Something tells me that you are probably a credit card employee or maybe you work for a collection agency.

From some of the horrible, nasty phone calls I've been getting from Providian/Washington Mutual, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that you work for them.

You have no compassion or understanding for those who have a run of bad luck and can't afford to pay their bills on time. I hope you end up in this kind of a situation some day so you can see what it is like from this perspective.

Yeah. It's a big conspiracy. All financially responsible people work for collection agencies or credit card companies.

The vast majority of people who live in the United States never file for bankruptcy. Get real.

This is true Lightning. The vast majority not only don't file, but they spend their time more wisely by NOT coming to a bankruptcy forum to P.O. those that need advice. Six months ago bankruptcy never crossed my mind. I had no intentions of filing and had no need to waste my precious time coming to a bankruptcy forum to bother people in need. Maybe you should do the same! You're supposed to be a financial genious, but you seem like you waste time a lot which is why you don't impress me.

            an update...

I'm scheduled to have a hearing over this matter on January 16th, but after speaking with my Lawyer we decided to contact the other side to see if they wanted to settle.

If I had not challenged or lost a challenge, it would have cost me $1600 + the creditor's legal fees of about $1200 + any legal fees I incurred.

The creditor's lawyer agrees that the spending was not on a luxury item but still feels that I was spending when I knew I couldn't pay it back. They offered to settle for $750 cash payment up front or $1000 with no interest. After the unexpected legal fees with my lawyer, I'm going to go with the second option and pay it off over the next four months.

It's costing me $500 for my lawyer to work out all the details and write up a settlement, but it would have cost much more for me to try and fight it which made that a bad option financially, even though my lawyer felt that I would have won.

So in the end I end up paying $1500 and there will be no additional negative item on my record. I'm happy with the result and once the paperwork is into the court dropping the challenge, I should finally get my discharge.

i just saw this thread. this thread is amazing. just simply amazing.

onc question to everyone that spoke to lighting directly in this thread...

why did you bother to speak to his moronic comments? they are not insightful, not on topic, out of contexts as always.

for your punishment, go back and read this thread and see where each and every one of you went wrong, deadly wrong by not ignoring him.

in fact, im wondering why he wasnt banned much sooner then this. why would the mods let this go on? i find this very, very curious.
