Getting Married

I was supposed to get married this past November, but I got sick, had surgery and put off the wedding. I am planning on filing later this year. If I get married we plan to file together.

How do you think the trustee will view getting married before filing?

There is absolutely no telling. The Trustee may ask some general questions, about whether both work and such, but they usually aren't interested.

I might ask... why does getting married have anything to do with filing anyhow? Why are you waiting to file?

My fiance doesn't work and is on unemployment, so having another dependent would help I'm waiting to file to put some time between some questionable transactions.

I filed 3 days after getting married. It wasn't questioned. I filed alone and we had no joint debts prior to the marriage.
