Preferential payment is an issue if you pay a creditor but don't pay another similar type creditor. So paying one unsecured credit card rather than paying some to all-is preferential. Same w/ paying back a family member rather than paying your creditors.

Paying past due rent would not be an issue, unless you had already moved out. (If you're not living there, it is an unsecured creditor. If you are living there, and don't pay up-they'll be able to evict you at some point.)
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

any payments less then $600 are not considered preferential payments.

i believe this to be true. is i right?

nonetheless, if you are trying to keep money then go buy a life insurance policy. perfectly legal. attorneys tell their clients to do it all the time before they file bk (check with them if you already filed) and get the whole life so that you can cash it out later if you decide its not what you want.

lol how much do life insurance policies range from? I mean obviously oyu have different amounts of coverage but didnt know if you had any figures off the top of your head. I've come to the conclusion that it is going to be tough to get rid of this money as quick as i want to .. I guess once I sell it I don't have to worry anymore .. the reason I want to do it so quick is because I think next month Chrysler will be suing me .. don't wanna lose the car that's for sure ;)

When you graduate from college, and get a job, how much will you make the first year?? Take that and multiply it by 5, at least. See how much that amount of life insurance costs/month and pay for a whole year in advance.

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

you put it all into a life insurance policy. not the normal insurance people eusually buy called term. you get whole life i think it is.

its an investment where you can take it out later. speak to an attorney regarding this to make sure it fits your case.

            get back to us.

Kinda tough to say honestly. I mean shit I still have 3 years of law school. Then according to what type of law I go into, also public or private sector.. I guess I could just 'guess'. I'm still kind of mad about the gun issue too, I feel like I should be able to buy one! lol. If I say I am going into a field where I will have a gun (govt gives it to me) and I need one to practice or just something to that effect, say I was going to join the FBI I'm obviously going to need to know how to shoot (which I do but just this is all hypothetical) I know there are exemptions for state items like Police uniforms or whatever so I didn't know how that worked. Gosh so many questions who woulda thought

I keep getting conflicting answers from lawyers too (I have one that I am primarily speaking too, but others I do talk to just to get opinions and some say "I wouldn't advise to use it to rent..others say its ok as long as its a reasonable amount" some say "You can use it towards school" other will say "No don't use it to school cause that isn't necessity" various little things. There are only so many groceries I can buy, and so many housing utilities lol. I wonder how much clothing they would consider to be 'TOO MUCH' . I was thinking I could work a deal out with my aunt, buy the groceries..and she just pay me the cash back..really and truly they wouldnt know plus I'll have a receipt saying hey here is where it went. However in that case I could just take my aunts receipts (if she paid in cash) she has 3 kids so 200 bucks in groceries is normal.... I could just say that was mine.. how would they know either way.

This shit is confusing! I had a new class tonight and my teacher is a Judge, I was thinking to myself how ironic it wouild be if he was a bankruptcy judge.. but he does Circuit Court Judge so bleh.

              SOrry for sooooo many questions
