    household maintenance amount??

I am in the process of filling out the mountain of paperwork to submit to my lawyer & am stumped as to what I put in for a dollar amount regarding household maintenance. Help!!

Add up receipts (if you have them) for the last year and divide by 12. Or, go through your bank statements/check book register to come to an amount. Don't forget lawn care products (lawn & leaf bags, fertilizer etc.) If you've been neglecting house repairs and maintenance, think about what the upcoming year will hold as far as getting things done and estimate them.

ditto to what newbie stated...and also we added and it went through fine...a "cushion" amount...lets say the roof needs repairs, the water heater goes..etc.

we put in $400 and the trustee's office didn't blink...you are located in a different state then we are...but add for example...snow shoveling..( something i chose to NEVER revisit), salt or icemelt...etc. many times you don't have the actual receipts for those things...if the neighbor hood kids shovel your driveway for $30 a snowfall, we all know it's difficult to project just how much snow will fall.

be reasonable but REAL...that's the best way to list the total....think of everything...EVERY single penny you spend or could....if the you may need an unforeseen repair..ect.

      best of luck!

sval, it depends on whether you own a home or rent. If you rent, an amount such as $50 for tenant-related resposibilities, not including lawn care, should pass muster unquestioned. If you own, then follow previous posters' suggestions.

good or excellent point joe!! of course i was assuming OP was a homeowner which we all know what one says about assumptions....

the expenses must make sense for your living environment of course..without say.

Why not including lawn care? If you rent, and it is your responsibility, do you list it separately? Just wondering....
