If you remember, I had been thinking about filing pro-se late last year. I decided, however, that even though I probably could go it alone, it would be better to get some feedback from an attorney along the way. So I went into my consultation, presented my concerns to the attorney, who promptly said I could easily file a Ch. 7, and that I must have done a lot of research because most people don't ask the kinds of questions I did...and every issue I mentioned was discovered while reading threads here. So, thanks, forum! I impressed my attorney because of you all!

Now I've just got to save up the fee (will be a couple months) and then we're off to the races. But it already feels like the weight is off my shoulders a bit, just knowing that I'm finally taking action and not just wringing my hands and worrying about screwing up the paperwork.

Well I've been on "the journey" for awhile, as it were. Like I said I'd been planning on going pro se. Read the Nolo book, asked a lot of questions here...even filled out a few of the forms and schedules. But I had a lot of questions where the answer I kept hearing was "it depends on the trustee" so I finally figured I'd better consider an attorney who will have a much better feel for the trustee's attitude than I will.

Seems like a smart approach. You know enough about bk to steer your case &/or spot an issue, with the added benefit of a pitbull on a chain to discourage APs and manage trustee issues.

it's good you mention that. while on our "search" for an atty, one of the top questions i asked was what type of relationships to you have with the trustee's in the district. we went with the one that claimed to have had an excellent relationship and understanding of our districts psychology and the firm most certainly did! ours was a complicated filing and the firm did an excellent job communicating with the trustee's office. ( and, by the way, our trustee's office reached out personally to us on numerous occasions prior to the 341 for added info or documents).
