    Financial Freedom of America

Anyone heard of them? I just saw a commercial where a woman said she was about $20,000 in debt from her divorce and this company cut her total down for her and she now owes less than 3/4 of that and makes monthly payments. I know it's a CCS, but I can't find anything on the net to see if they charge..I'm the same as that woman..my divorce is gonna put me in a range of $20,000 in debt...

    Anyone?

    Thanks!

It seems like you see commercials and hear ads for these type of companies all the time now. All I can say is BE VERY CAREFUL!! I am sure there are some legot companies out there that can truly help you, but check anyone out that you are considering working with with a fine tooth comb.

I went with a Debt Negotiation firm that I thought would help me. The result. I paid them about $4000 to send worthless letters to my creditors, and they did NOTHING! I know have 1 creditor with a civil case pending, and just about everything else is a charge off.

Guess what, I ended up having to filing for BK anyway.

So PLEASE use caution and research any company before you sign anything!

Trying desperately to avoid bk, we investigated debt management and ended up going with the local chapter of CCCS in our community. I checked them out thoroughly and they had an excellent reputation as a legit debt management group. CCCS did the analysis of our finances, then they worked with our credit cards and non-secured loans creditors. We paid CCCS about $750/month for eight months - I did the math and at the end of eight months and after paying CCCS over $6,000 we were only $900 ahead of where we started!

Between our credit cards maxing out their APRs and the fees CCCS took for themselves, we were losing ground at a tremendous rate. Debt management ended up being a total waste of our money and lost us eight months of time. If we had filed bk instead when we went with CCCS, we would have filed under the old law which would have been a lot better for us. Live and learn - don't repeat our mistake.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

They are only doing what you can do yourself. if I understand correctly
they just make a deal for you and keep a cut of your payment money for themselves. I think it still screws up your credit just the same. I am filing BK because of a divroce. My ex is a litigation paralegal so she knows her way around the game pretty good and just refuses to pay her share so they came after me for all the debts.
        Thanks,

        Chris
