Exp.w/ Filing Ch 7 without Lawyer in NY?

Anyone have experience with filing a successful Chapter 7 case in New York? I plan to file on my own- I don't own real property, and my income is less that the state med. income. I plan to use the CA exemption system 2 because I've lived here less than two years.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First, I hope you lived in California for a long period of time, so it doesn't complicate the residency requirements. Second, you need to make sure that California allows a non-resident to use their Bankruptcy Exemptions. Otherwise, you need to use New York's exemption system or the Federal system.

This is going to be the most important thing you figure out. That is whether you are required to be a California resident, to use California's exemptions. (I think one of the two systems requires actual, current, residency).
