Case manager's responsibilities?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the responsibilities that case managers have? I was assigned one when I filed but I'm not sure what they do in regards to your case...are they the folks you consult if you have any questions about your paperwork, deadlines, etc.?

Generally speaking, they handle everything related to the docket and your case. More specifically, they handle all papers (motions, objections, oppositions, complaints, etc) and deal with things in the electronic docket system known as CM/ECF, or PACER for non-attorneys.

If you filed pro se, you need to become best friends with this person. You need to always be pleasant and always proceed ANY QUESTION with this phrase... "I have a procedural question". They can not and will not give you legal advice and even if you preface your question with the prior phrase, it doesn't guarantee that your question isn't a legal question. It just helps relax them since they always assume you are calling to ask legal questions.

For example, "should I attend the 341 Meeting" is a legal question. While "what's the courthouse entry procedure and are laptops allowed", is a "procedural" question.

Another example, "how do I complete Form B22C", is a legal question. While, "what form do I use to certify that I completed the Financial Management course and are there any local forms", is a "procedural" question.
