can i file bankruptsy while on a green card status

is it ok for me to file as I have a green card and am not a US citizan

If you are planning to become a citizen or seeking permanent resident status, then you should speak with your (or an) immigration attorney. U.S. Bankruptcy is open to any resident or person owning property or a business in the United States. From what I have read, the real question is whether any bankruptcy was filed under bad faith or fraudulently. A fraudulent or bad faith bankruptcy filing "may" effect the inquiry into the citizenship/residency applicant's character.

    Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10

        Sure.
