    All Mothers with Sons

I need some emotional support. My son is getting married on 09/15. He is marrying someone that we totally approve of and it should be a happy day, right? I just found this song on the internet and it is perfect for the mother and groom dance. It is called "I'll Always Be Your Mother." Well, when I listened to it I started crying, but the lyrics are perfect! It is everything that I wanted to say to him and my new daughter-in-law.

Now, here is my question; How do I get through this song without becoming hysterical? (I knew I should have picked the song Macarena, ha, ha).

Her song to dance with her dad will be: "I Loved Her First." and then my song. I can just picture it, they will be carrying me out sobbing hysterically with my nose running and my make-up all messed up. I need a way of not losing it when they play these songs.....Help!!!!!!!!

(Do you think that it will help if I get mad at a non-English speaking pizza delivery guy just before the wedding?, lol)

First, a big congratulations to your son and new DIL!! How wonderful for your family to officially welcome a new member to the fold!

I'm very emotional too so I understand not wanting to lose it in front of all the guests. However, in the long run, truly no one will care. Go ahead and lose it, $$! After decades of worry raising your son, you've earned crying ten times over on his most special wedding day! Everyone will understand. They did as I shed a few tears during my son's and my dance on his wedding day too.

But if fairly dry eyes is still the goal, then listen to both songs over and over and over again before the wedding and cry your eyes out until you don't feel such a strong urge to cry. The repetition will desensitize you and you might just get through both songs at the wedding with smile intact!

No matter what happens, please give your son and his bride my best wishes and congratulations!

It sure is. The words are beautiful. It was hard for me to find a song that I really liked, but when I heard this song I knew it was perfect. Even my son got a little choked up when he heard it.

I am taking Irprn's advice and I play the song over and over, hoping that I can hold it somewhat together.

Yup! My "baby" boy got married a month ago today. I cried for weeks, and I am so emotionally anyway, he picked the song Mama by Boys 2 Men. When he was 11 he used his own $ to buy me the CD for Christmas. I only listened to it once because I was a basket case. So when I found out this was our song to dance to, I played it over and over, but I still cried everytime. Surprisingly (to me and everyone else) during the dance itself , I only shed a few tears (not the scrunch up ugly face crying) and it was all good, we got some awesome pictures I will treasure always. Congrats & good luck

I wanted a song that told him that I was ready to let go and gave him my blessing for the next part of his life. The lyrics are perfect.

It plays about half the song (country version), but gives you the entire lyrics.
