    Confused about the tax rebate...

I'm probably going to sound dumb by asking this but I'm a little confused about this tax rebate and you guys have been so awesome at answering all of my bankruptcy questions so here it goes...
Here's my situation...I'm married and a stay-at-home mom who made $2000 last year part-time and we have 2 children. Even though I didn't make $3,000 nor did I pay federal income taxes last year, do we still qualify for the "married couple $1,200 rebate". I can't find this anywhere! By the way, my husband grossed about $65,000 last year and we file jointly. Thanks for any input!

I believe the limits are $75K for single and $150K for joint, but even if I'm wrong on this I think you are still OK. I don't see why you wouldn't qualify for the full amount. My wife was a student all year and made no money at all and I know that she will be eligable for it...

    ... pending senates approval ofcourse!

I could be wrong, but I think the Senate is now saying that under the proposed plan, people who paid no income tax but qualified for the earned income credit are due to get a rebate. Therefore, the Senate feels that people on SS who pay no income tax should get the rebate as well. It'll be interesting to see what they finally compromise on.

If you are married and filing then you should get a rebate, even if you didn't work.

          Thanks so much everyone!
One place it says "married couples filing jointly" and another place it will say "working couples filing jointly"! I think that the government is just as confused!
