    National Debt?

Watch this debt clock progress. Follow what happens during the Reagan/Bush years, then watch what happens during the Clinton years, then see what it does again during the recent Bush years.

INflation, oil prices, food, recession Who is taking the money?

I can only guess that the money is filling the Bush cabinet & republican pockets to spend/hoard along with the 1% global control freaks, and leaving America on the death spiral!

Oh, I know we talk about this a lot here lately but every day my eyes are opened to something new by talking about this stuff so in some strange way we are increasing each others knowledge through sharing & dialogue, even though sometimes we compalin. but what they hey!

So in case you were wondering, the national debt is rising now about 75 million dollars an hour, yes- per hour.

Good information...based on the historical trend the national debt is only going to get worse!

OK, lay the debt on us. Then allow each citizen to file chapter 7 and voila, the debt goes away... damned, I should be in charge! As they say the "MUFFWIC".

I'm changing to Bolivars and moving.

I am not sure, but I think that would only get rid of just over half of the debt and in return our leaders would have to create more debt because they would see the USA saving too much money Perhaps another war then? seems logical in these days of false economy

During WW2 they re-tooled auto makers and collected scrap to make war machines. People got paid, but they were not paid extreme amounts. The majority of that national debt is going to war contractors and mercenaries whose companies are controlled by the members of the president's staff (Cheny, Wolfowitz and all). Repete: It is for people's PAY, not actual Items. It is also for Bribes, which is counted as pay of sorts. This is the largest campaign of corporate piracy in the history of mankind (well, except perhaps the Monarchy). I agree w/ Bandit: it is all going right back to the president and his cronies. He's signing bills to give himself a big cut off the top and then smirking at the rest of us, "let them eat cake." Oh well. Not much we can do except go BK and refuse to spend another dime on badly priced junk.

I think how this effects us all is by legitimizing this sort of piracy.

720 million dollars a day just to have Iraq war?
or 6,500 families per day with a new home?

            hmmm...war is better!

so exactly WHO is coming out ahead doing this?, if it is not the country as a whole?
or they could spend our tax dollars doing this:

and of course the Cheney Rumsfield Vortex...

I got a kick out of that

Here is the debt with gross domestic product:

              Watch G H W Bush call Reagan's supply-side economics "Voodoo" then deny it when he's Reagan's VP.

If anyone can find facts or graphs going back to the early 20s, that would be interesting to see those times, because they were even harder than now for most people.

I just find it odd in the trend of things that the democrats can actually get the debt to go down & the repbulicans insist on spending the way they do yet the country over all never moves forward! (excluding the Nixon era which was another big mess all together)

I am neither party here, just looking at the facts is all.

                BINGO

it was not hard to figure out either, just took a few years to gather all the pieces, to make sure.
Big difference form WW2 because the public is not getting more jobs from this war!..we just get more debt. You would think we would be better off because if this was a real war we would own Iraq by now. Iraq, state #51

This is why I never understood why anyone would EVER vote republican.

Except those republicans at the extreme top.

Same here. I remember when she started and I saw the avatar. It reflected what she was going through and my heart only went out to her more.

Thanks for that graph. If that's true - or even mostly true- it really tells the story.
It's been a well known fact that Reagan raised the debt more than any President in history and now apparently George Jr. wanted to "beat the pants off him". Congrats, George W., you won!

I am not sure how this exactly will affect us as a country, but it CANNOT be good.

IN years past they got votes based on hating gay people & trying to make laws against abortion & things like that so people saw them as the goody two shoes, but I would like to know how many gay republicans there are & how many republicans have had abortions...you know the nazi-conservatives super religious like the Jerry Falwell types....I saw this very strong with McCain reaching for the holy evangelical crowd for votes & it turned me off.

Now those types of issues are not on the top of the list any more.

but as far as business goes, I think it is more of recent trend to totally screw your country with our leaders because the republicans also hate what has happened. Almost every person I know who says they always vote that way said they were changing parties & these people are the ones I know who are religous in nature. Reagan went down as a decent president but he was a movie star & it was all Holywood cool, so he knew how to act in front of people & make us feel like it was all ok! & before that was Nixon...so there ya have it in a nut shell from my POV.

But seriously, we have big problems with debt & I don't see how either Clinton or Obama can straighten this out & it worries me because I know they have hidden agendas also, but it is NOT totally screwing the country, at least I hope not.

I have to look at the facts & like you say, except for the ones at the top....it does not make a whole lot of sense but the dems WILL raise taxes & get some of this money back from those big boys at the top, who have ripped the public off & it will go back into the country, let's hope.

I think that whoever wins the presidency in November is basically doomed to fail, because the mess Shrub has put us in, the damage he has caused, can't be cleaned up in DECADES, never mind years. I don't envy the winner his/her job, whoever wins.

We're in very hard times, and we're in for more.
BK 7 filed and discharged in 2004 after 30+ years of perfect credit. Life HAPPENS.
