Didn't have to gas up today, but I've been watching all the stations on my way to and from work. Noticed that the Shell is up to $4.17 for regular, while the Mobil on the opposite corner was selling regular for $3.99. Both are similar in size and both have convenience stores. So what is this? Gauging? A $.17/gallon difference?BK 7 filed and discharged in 2004 after 30+ years of perfect credit. Life HAPPENS.

SAD THING.............. the ones that waste the most gas is the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT...........AT OUR EXPENSE..............
Not only do we pay for ours, we pay for their's too!!!
I don't see Uncle Sam using less gas, do you???
Guess they get a "better rate" then we do!!!!Minny

Just to chime in a bit, I'm pretty sure we will never run out of oil....ever. Just think about it. The core of the earth is the hottest and somewhere between the hottest part and the coolest part will form liquid (or oil). Now the best places to drill it can be debated, but I think this whole oil thing and the price going up because the people controlling it put it out there that we will run out is a farce.....they're laughing all the way to the bank. These prices are causing worldwide turmoil, just look at Europe the past few days.

It's a bit more complicated than that. For one thing, the Chinese and Indian economies are booming and the demand for petroleum has skyrocketed. For another, the easily accessible crude oil deposits are starting to deplete, and while there are enormous untapped reserves all over the globe, getting to it is increasingly difficult and expensive. It costs millions of dollars just to mobilize drilling equipment and get it to the drilling site, with no guarantee that there will be a payoff.
All the complaining in the world is not going to reduce fuel prices. If it means that we as individuals will suffer - that's just too bad.
The party's over.

It jumped 11 cents here on Monday, I"ve not checked since then
.
Sadly our politicians seem to want to make it worse, that stupid windfall tax would have raised the price of gasoline another dollar overnight. To bad they seem to dumb to do whats really needed which is drilling offshore and in ANWAR domestically and building refineries domestically. (Would take about 10 years, however that is the short term alternative, it would take 30-50 years to get hydrogen fuel cells to replace gasoline).May 31st, 2007: Petition Filed by my lawyer
July 2nd, 2007: 341 Meeting Held
September 4th, 2007: Discharged and Closed.

But luckily for you...you don't have to drive very much as you stated.Originally posted by Cali View PostExactly, so those that are complaining about their prices, I will trade with them in a heartbeat.

I am fortunate as I work in Transit and ridership is way up. Unfortunately ,mismanagement has put a freeze on everything and the equipment is already prime for any museum. I worked in the Bus division for 19.6 years and have been at Rail for 6 years. I DON'T want to be Western Europe but the US is far behind. Nashville to me has a n excellent plan. Get the people in the TAX PAYING neighborhoods hooked on the system before you build dedicated lines and you will get support to build. They are going out to nicer areas first like like Lebanon and Mt. Joliet. Screw the inner City jargon, our main riders come from nicer areas in the south part of the County, they are the working tax base. Nashville is using existing lines with existing cars before they build a dedicated system, SMART."You once asked me for advice. You want some now? Never pass up a good thing." I think we all have reason to complain. While your prices seem extremely high to those of us in a area that are still at 4.09. You were probably higher to begin with and your average prices on everything are probably higher. The incomes in your area are probably on average higher as well. California is not know for finding bargain homes or prices.Originally posted by Cali View PostExactly, so those that are complaining about their prices, I will trade with them in a heartbeat.
Also the fact you dont have to drive many places is a good thing. Around here the public transportation is horrendous. Everything has to be driven to. The more kids the more you drive.Last edited by momof5; 06-11-2008, 06:07 AM.5/29 Filed 7~ 341-on 6/24

HRx - True I don't drive much right now, but school gets out this week. So I will be driving more. And when my hubby comes back from deployment, he will be driving 5 days a week.
momof5 - I don't recall saying people shouldn't complain. I said I would trade with them in a heartbeat. And yes San Diego has always had higher gas than most places. And yes the cost of living where I live at is very high, and not everyone here makes good money because they are living in San Diego.
I have 2 teenagers.Last edited by Cali; 06-11-2008, 06:34 AM.
