    Car Repo Questons....

My car recently got repo, and one of my family members was nice enought to take out a loan for me to cash out my car and pay the loan back.

I was wondering if Car/Finance companies has the right to change my keys lock, then when i pay out my car they refuse to change my keys back unless I pay more money? is that valid? I dont feel its right especially if I paid all the money they wanted for the car and they cant put my keys back where they were suppose to be.

    Anyone have answers, please share.

Unfortunately, when you missed your first payment on your vehicle you were in breach of your contract for the purchase of that vehicle and when it got to the point that your vehicle was repossessed, the company, due to your breach, was able to do that when they took the car into their possession. Some of that wording may be in your purchase papers/contract when you purchased your vehicle. Your vehicle was then paid for after the fact of that lock change so you are responsible for rekeying when you got it back in your possession. I know it sounds unfair but you need to remember they were only doing their job, you were in breach of contract on the vehicle and they repossessed it back into their possession because you were not making payments required under contract. It's sorta like how you feel after your vehicle is towed from the city street when you were only parked in an illegal spot for a few minutes and you go to get your car and have to pay a $200 towing fee.
