    Ham Recipe?

So, my family loves honey baked hams, but we're trying to cut down on all holiday costs this year. Anyone have a good ham recipe that would rival the chain?

    Thanks.

LOL!! Yeah, like going to the grocery store when you're starving. Dangerous!!

Food Network rocks. I'll check them out. Anybody have a home-made, family recipe for this one? (Just curious.)

OK, you set me off particularly “RockLobster”. We live on the river, we have always had a crab trap. I used to clean those guys with a tooth brush after opining their shell. Mrs. and I went to the LeComb Crab Festival in LeComb LA. We saw to Cajuuns, and asked how you eat those, man? He said “De hole dam ting”. So we watched and saw them eat de hole dam ting. We did likewise and it was great.

Later we saw a Julia Chiles show (now she is deceased) and the same plan, how do you eat lobster? De hole dam ting. The best is actually purchase a female. The meat is sweeter and when cutting in half, the orange is the row, (caviar) and wonderful, the green is the liver a delicacy, and everything else is goooood.

Now as we learned this tried and true and are not dead yet; when we purchase a lobster usually in a tank in a chain store we ask the clerk we want a female lobster. As her face turns stone white in fear, she usually says, “didn’t know there was a difference”. I would say, well how do you think little lobster arrive? She then asks “so, how do you tell?” I would then say, “How do you tell a pupply’s sex? Turn it upside down.” At that point she is calling management and is terrified. This is better than the meal. So I do the same with the kid who is a sub-manager. Well then I educate them. Here is more fun. Turn the lobster upside down, the tail is full of little legs, but between the tail and the carapace the part where big legs are, are two legs that are different. The male “legs” are horney (no pun intended) and hard, the female at the same location has like soft feather looking “legs”. The female is much more tasty. Now about crabs, the female crab has a triangle carapace under the bottom. The male has a T shape in the same place. The female again has roe. If you eat them cold (cooked of course) the “fat is in the shell in the wings. Very good. Man am I hungry now. ‘Hub

Fabulous!! I may have to do lobster for Thanksgiving in homage to my namesake. (Heh.)

Thanks for the hilarious and authentic recipe.....

This is the HBH "copycat" recipe I've been using since last Christmas.

Read the reviews. My family can't tell the difference either!

This is a great and yummy and easy and cheap twist for cornbread:

                              1 can creamed corn
                              1 can whole kernel corn
                              8oz container sour cream
                              1 stick melted butter
                              2 eggs
                              1 box Jiffy cornbread mix

Mix creamed corn, whole kernel corn and sour cream together. Put in a 13 x 9inch pan. Mix butter, eggs and cornbread mix together and top over corn mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

The recipe says to top the one with the other, but I like to mix it all up.

mmmmmmmmmmm, we have it every year.
