Doctor trying to claim charges on a day I wasn't even there?

Ok folks, I went to the drs for a hearing test.

I've been to that ENT twice. I knew my insurance would expire by the end of April. So I had my two appointments prior to that. I explained this to the office biller. She was telling me they have records of my being there. Hmmm???

I get a bill from the drs office. First off, they double bill me. Then bill me for a day I wasn't there.

I even have test results that are dated on a day they DIDN'T charge me. Hmm....aren't you supposed to get billed for services the day you are there?

So now they have sent my bill to collections.

I've already closed on my bk earlier this year. So I don't need something else that's going to hurt the credit rating.

    Any suggestions?

    They want over $1000!

    Thanks

Have you discussed this with the insurance company you had in April at the time of your appointments? Even though you are not insured with them now, you were then and they have all the information/records you need. If you have receipts for your visits to document the days you were there, you should be fine to get this straightened out. Some doctor's offices send out bills before they are sent to the insurance company and indicate such on the billing that you will be billed for the balance due after the insurance pays.

I think a call to your previous insurance company should clear up the matter.

I would discuss the ligitamacy of the days you were not there and the tests etc. They don't necessarily bill you THE day you were there, but the bill should reflect that date and what services rendered. I think you are stuck with paying it but if it is within the time your insurance was in force, the insurance company is still responsible for the amount retroactively. 'Hub
