    Upset and need to vent

So far this year has been brutal. It seems like everday something goes wrong.
    It has just been relentless.

First off it will probably be next year before we can file. Husband owns a business and was not very good at keeping up with the paperwork. Our bookkeeper has already charged us over $6,000.00 and is not even close to getting everything sorted out. I stopped paying my cc's in Feb. and just stopped paying his this month.

In February husband's paid for work truck broke down and needed $12,000.00 in work. It was a diesel and had over 200,000 miles. It was not even worth $5000. So after looking all over for a used heavy duty (Texans love their diesels) he found a used 2008 with over 100,000 miles. It has been in for repairs every month since he bought it. It was obviously used for hot shot loads and they put in another bedliner to cover-up the hole from the gooseneck trailer. So now we have the new payment for the truck plus the money that we are spending for the repairs. We now have three auto payments.

Oh, and this is a real kick my sister and her husband who make very good money but hate to pay their bills filed for ch13. They have no cc debt, only one car payment and a house payment of less than $1,000. They were behind on the house payment, but only by $2500. I know I should'nt be upset, but the thing is we have always helped them out, even though they made more money. It was to the point that we enabled their bad behavior because we always bailed them out. They knew that they could spend their money on everything but the bills and we would be there to help. We finally shut down the family bank at the end the year and sent them into a tailspin. Even though they know our financial situation is pretty dire they have not once offered to help.

Then, there is my youngest son who is having some medical treatment and needs bloodwork for the next few months and just found out the insurance wont pay for it. He needs four blood test at $233.00 a pop. And last but not least my 25 yr old backed into a parked car this morning. He had just reached that magical age where he was no longer considered high risk driver on our insurance.

Sorry for the long winded rant. If anyone needs me i'll be in the closet. I think the sky is falling.

I don't know what to say but, I'm sorry! It will get better!
    Hang in there!
I hope your youngest son is better soon.

Your sister and hubby took advantage of you by standing there with their hand out knowing you would slap the money in their palm. It's always different when things are reversed but you find that out much later and learn the hard way. Many people go through something similar. Watch it when you are back on good ground financially. Keep the "Family Bank" doors closed from now on and if they ask for money in the future, tell them you just don't have it or can't loan it/give it cause it would take you weeks to get it out as it is all tied up on your 401(k), CD's, etc.

Wow! $6,000 to a Bookkeeper?? I'm a Disabled Accountant. Hoping the amount is for several years.

I'm glad you stopped the Family Money Bank. There are times in our lives when you have to put the brakes on even if it creates a Family Tiff. Been there...done that.

As for the bloodwork your son is needing and your medical insurance doesn't want to pay for it. Appeal it..I believe you have 30 days to do such. Yes, it will take a bit of effort to write the 'Appeal' and get your Doctor who ordered the bloodwork to do the same. It sure is worth a try. I've appealled several decisions made by a previous medical insurance and won them all. I can relate on medical problems as Dh and I are walking medical patients..no joke.

Not understanding the 3 auto loans. Will make a brief comment. If one loan is on the old truck or for any vehicle and it's useless to you, stop making the payment on it as you did the Credit Cards. If it's your 25 yr. old son's, don't believe you will be able to claim that vehicle expense in BK, but do understand if you are helping him. I did the same for my son until he was 26 yrs old.

Know the individual your son backed into? and think you can work out some payment plan to get the parked car fixed..don't report it. When my son was in his early 20's, he had several small accidents and our insurance agent recommended we not file against our insurance company. Just make sure a police report is made.

I've got damage to my home this past weekend due to A Tornado in the air..did not touch down, & winds of 70-80 mph. I called my insurance agent yesterday and told him I was probably going to get 'brother-in-law' deals. He took down the information and suggested he hold onto such until I knew for sure. It's going to cost me less than my $500 deductible.

Everything seems to happen all at once & just the stress of knowing you are filing BK in the near future, can/will drive you bonkers. My journey started last Sept. when a debt management co. told DH and I we needed to see a BK Attorney. Retained one later on that month and we haven't filed yet. Hopefully we will be filing 9/09.

Just a few suggestions I thought of. Come out of the closet..the sky hasn't fallen When you hit the bottom, there is only one way to go and that is UP! Hang in there. Yes, you can come back and vent some more. Been there done that too!

just maybe, just maybe I might have gotten a small smile from ya??

Please don't mind me I was having a pity party this morning.

Luci your right, that is alot of money that our bookkeeper is charging. She is not a CPA, but charges about the same rates if not more. She knows that we are having a tough time right now and that we will probably have to file for BK and she thinks that it is a terrible idea and wanted us to try to settle our debts. She is really old and cranky so I make my husband deal with her. We kind of inherited her when my husband bought my father's business many years ago.

As far as the three car payments go they are for two trucks and an SUV that are all in working order. The truck that broke down was paid for. There are four drivers in the family, but we are trying to trade in one of the trucks and the SUV on something with a lower payment. Right now all three payments total $1,350.00 and that does not include insurance. The problem right now is with my husbands "new" used truck is back in the shop for repairs again today. So it is a little scary to think that the four of us will have to shuffle the use of two vehicles between us.

I will call my sons insurance tomorrow to see why they wont cover his blood test. Thank god it is not something serious. The medication that he is on can affect the liver so that is the reason for the test.

The person that my son backed into happens to work at the bank where we have our business acct. At first he was pretty upset because he said he was planning on selling the car next week ( it's a Caddy) thank goodness my husband was with our son. Of course they forgot to take pictures of the dent so I sent them back to the bank to take pictures just in case. Even though our son is 25 this is his first accident and he has not had a speeding ticket, so we are really pretty fortunate.

As far as my sister and her husband I know someone can only take advantage of you if you let them. And boy did we let them.

Again sorry for the rant, but when it rains it pours.
