I deal with sex offenders, drunk drivers, drug dealers, etc. But I can honestly say that you can tell alot about them from "their raising". Most of the older ones have some manners and show some respect. The younger ones, many of them I have had or still have their parents, grandparents, or other relatives on my caseload, and it shows. I am still amazed at the attitudes and thinking I come into contact with. The world owes them a living, don't want to take responsibility for their actions, but worst of all they have no respect for themselves, let alone for others. They know how the "system" works and will do everything they can to try and get over on it too.
Honest, hardworking folks are the ones that support the rest of society, the rich and the criminals (or are they one in the same? The rich and the criminals that is!!)
An example: Man, I can't get no job, I got a record (selling drugs on/near school property). Never mind the fact that you sleep all day or don't even have a GED. Doesn't know how to fill out an application or dress appropriatley for an interview. What kills me most is, They only pay minimum wage, I ain't working for that. Or, I aint flipping no burgers. Or, they will cut my food stamps and up my rent. Or tell me you got to find me a job. They never come in for appointments on time (or at all, because they aint got no ride, they got a ride when they got in trouble) They also are the same ones that are never home when you go check on them either. You need to want to help yourself before you expect others or the government to help you.
I am off the soap box, for now at least.

I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....
