That is wonderful news DYLAN. I wish I could go shopping, but unfortunately we haven't a penny to our names. This year I have to make all my gifts and I don't even have a clue what they are going to be. It is going to be the hardest Christmas for our kids.

Every year I have waited until the week before Christmas to go shopping and every year I tell myself next year be different. Finally. Put my lights on my house thanksgiving and my neighbors most likely think I am nuts but it wasn't raining.

It's going to be a difficult Christmas for a lot of our nations kids.

Last night's 60 minutes explains why.

Having no young children, for the last couple years, Mrs. and I had just enveloped our blessings to each other, then opened them in lieu of presents. For the kids it makes it a bit hard. In your past, have you ever given freely to others? Of course. Now, you need some aid and if you would, go to your Fire Department and ask if they take in toys for tots. If they don't more likely they would know who does. It is time now for those who need rather than those who take, to get a bit of help. Don't be ashamed to ask as there are many in your (and our) condition. Hope and Change just never worked well for us. GBWY. Best wishes. 'Hub

These kids are so close to me. My job has adopted one of these families for the holidays. We will supply them with gifts and food this Christmas.

This episode was a new one. It featured different families stating that the homeless problem is getting worse not better since the orginial episode aired last March. It's heart breaking.

I know we should be grateful for what we have, but it is so hard for the kids to see others with "things". We just hate to see them sad, but explain to them that these are not the important parts of life. It is still difficult for a child to understand why others have and they don't. I know most of it is our faults. We didn't know we were going to have such job changes. My husband's hours were cut in half, our medical insurance is now gone due to his hours being cut. It is like a nightmare that will not go away.

FairyPoor, I understand where you are coming from. Less than a month after I was laid off, my husband got laid off too. We're staying home this Christmas and laying low, but we're so grateful for our health and each other.
