I received an email from this electronic tech. and he said to unplug the set for least one hour and then plug it back in. That is suppose to reset something. I did that the other day but it was only for 10 minutes which he said is not enough, so I will see.

Well, now I am updating this post. The AC/Heat unit has gone out. The heating part seems okay, but the compressor has gone bad. We have now been 'dinking' around with LG to get this unit fixed. The manual, and LG's website plainly says that there is a five-year warranty full service for parts and labor. We purchased this unit in January 2011, which falls well within the five year period.

The authorized repair person has picked it up and taken it back to the shop. But so far, LG is claiming ONE year warranty only, and so far has not authorized repair.

Meanwhile, we have a hole in our wall, and it is hot and humid in our house. Looks like we may be headed to small claims court.....

BTW, Dylan, I changed the title of the thread a bit.

We bought our 47" LED TV last December, and 'Hub's brother bought his 52" LED TV about March 2011--which is what inspired 'Hub to buy ours. We will see how long they last...

                Latest update:

We got the AC/Heater unit fixed; the compressor had gone out. LG was jerking the authorized service person around, along with us, arguing over the one year vs. five year warranty. We went to Home Depot where we bought the unit and saw on their shelves, two identical cases with '5 Year Guarantee' plainly marked on the boxes. Then next to them were other similar units marked '1 Year Guarantee'. We wondered what that was all about. The Appliance Department Head told us that as of January 1, 2012, LG had cut their guarantees back to "One Year Only". The two 5 year units, "are last year's models." Further, Home Depot was NOT happy with LG doing that because now they are no different from what their competitor Lowes offers with their Friedrich brands.

So armed with all that knowledge, they got the machine fixed and back in the wall last week. Now, with the cooler air that Sandy brought in down here, we need the heating part, and now THAT has gone out....

                The part is on order...

To augment my Mrs. I still like LG products. As she explained, the same unit has now a one year warranty. It is EXACTLY the same except the five year has 2410 in the model number and the new one year has 2412. If anyone shops look closely for that number. They are still fine units. 'Hub
