Kinda sounds like I LIKE WORKING TWO JOBS............. HUH!!!!

Not really, but sure have had too over the years just to survive....... That parttime job paid for cars, vacations, and all the "nice" little things that I love in live....... so really didn't mind working it......

Now that I'm older, I rent out two rooms at my house........ that way I don't have to work the parttime job.... I started this about 4 years ago..... after my mom passed away.

One of my rentors (or roomeys as I call them) stayed 2 1/2 years...... a guy (32) in the process of divorce with a broken spirit..... Since then he's recouped, found love again, has remarried and now has a bouncing baby boy......

One girl (47) has been with me 3 years......

I call them roommates....... and we all get along great........ right now there's a girl (47) and a guy (42).

The guys keep the yard mowed and outside work done..... and us girls keep the inside clean.... EVERYBODY cooks........... everybody does their own laundry.....

But we all lead our own lives, yet they enter twine for supper, cookouts, etc.....

Needless to say, my home is full of people and friends on occassions. And all treat my home with the highest respect......

Only one tried to "press his luck" - eat everyones food (but buy none) and haul in his "hoes" off the street............ needless to say, he didn't last very long......

The guy (32) who was with me 2 1/2 years said I was one of the easiest women to live with he had ever met...... his new wife thinks I'm GREAT......

By renting out rooms to 2 people, I don't have to work that 2nd job, I can be home evenings, sitting on my deck, indugling in a cool one, playing with "the girls" and enjoying life again......

All my roomies have been hard working people who love life........... and most of them are 10-20 years younger then me.... sooooo they keep this ole woman alive, active, and on the go.............. GOOD THING I'M YOUNG AT HEART AND MIND.............

Someday I may have to go back a work parttime, but not as long as I can do it this way to supplement my income.......

I intend to turn my 40 ft garage into an apartment in the future to help with expenses also down the road..... especially for retirement.....

These roommates have helped me thru bankruptcy and witnessed all its turmoil that you can go thru...... good lesson for them....

Do I miss my total privacy - naw....... not a bit.... The roomies are often gone on weekends and I have my home to myself for a while for a little peace and quiet, but I'm always glad to see them bounce back in the door and yell "Momma Dee - I'm home"!!!!!!

They each have had their problems in life and we all help each other deal with them............. yet still maintain our private lives.....

WORKS FOR ME....................... and "my girls" love all the attention!!!!

Great idea, Minny, on sitting for older adults! I love older folks and am basically a very patient person. I don't mind cooking and cleaning either.

There's always a way to make extra money......... me, like I said am a professional when it comes to the parttime jobs......

Workig in produce in the grocery store, sitting with the elderly, desk clerk/night auditor in a motel, and even making and selling crafts.........

Several yard sales a year............clean out the clutter........

I've even mowed yards for the neighbors.......

Whatever it takes to survive.................. I'M A SURVIVOR.............

I may not HAVE all the things I want in life..... but I have what I need....

AND THE MAIN THING - I'VE VERY "REALISTIC" ABOUT WHAT I REALLY NEED AND CAN AFFORD................

By being smart, thrifty, and realistic........... I usually have what I want in life..... I really do without very little.

It may not be the expensive stuff, but I have a lot more stuff than most do.... and many of my things are 30-40 years old......

I take care of what I do have...........don't replace it often.......

My life is comfortable - but not extravagant....... I lead a "simple life" with simple needs and wants.....

AND YES, LIFE CAN STILL BE GOOD...................

I'm also going to look at some of those work from home on your computer things. You do things like take calls for 1-800-FLOWERS (no advertising intended--just the example I read on our news site)

That would be ideal--not having to spend money on gas to work a low paying job on the weekend.

That's a good idea, Anon! As much as I yak on the phone, I could do that easily. I wouldn't spend anymore on gas and I could stay in my jammies!

                      Believe it or not...

...one of the collection agencies offered me a job when I finally answered the phones this week to start giving out my "filing BK, here is my lawyer's number" spiel. Collecting on a Chase card and operating out of Montana. Same guy was calling every other day for the past month and leaving polite messages on my voice mail. He said he figured I was probably heading to BK and I actually enjoyed chatting for a few even when he said he had to go through the offer of settling, etc, with me. He offered to give me a number to call if I was interested in doing collections, because his firm is expanding with so many people falling behind on cc payments. I declined but thanked him for being civilized. So far about half of my creditors have been told via phone to contact my lawyer and no unpleasantness yet. But I haven't been home to pick up the two callers that bark orders to call this # OR ELSE into my voice mail. What is very funny, is one of those keeps giving these orders to call and spitting out both my name and my late husband's name. He's been dead for 19 years now, so wonder what data base that collector is using!!! I have a parttime seasonal job with Barnes and Noble: this teacher's dream job with a 30% discount. My entire family had a Barnes and Noble Xmas last year! But no money to buy anything myself, but helps with the girl's books and nice to get the discount in the Cafe on Starbuck's items when my friends and I go for coffee and to browse magazines.

I've got my phone off right now, but I can't wait to give my first "here's my lawyer's number" spiel and the cessation of those calls!

It truly is a sweet, sweet moment, Anon. After our bankruptcy was filed, hubby and I have been taking turns answering our creditor calls just so we each had the satisfaction of knowing this was the VERY LAST TIME we would ever hear from that particular non-secured creditor! Now 30 days later, our phone is blessedly quiet.

Bask in the moment of each and every call - finally it's your day in the sun!
