Offline because of impendine Ernesto and OT for storm. Lucky day! Lightning struck out back, everything OK but ALL DSL filters bye-bye, modem bye-bye. Modem was OOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD! On dial-up our line limit is 24kbps, no higher. TEDIOUSLY SLOW, hopefully up and running tuesday, tested liones, OK, supposedly, new Modem enroute. SLOOOOOOW, took in excess of ten mins. to load this page bye-bye. Did alot of ebay sales for first time in YEARS (since pre- BK) also, have domains listed with a traffic service and some are making afew $$$$, not much but if each one can make $5 per month it is well worth it it. They are cheap to register.

Glad to know you and yours are OKAY..... sorry to hear about the pc problems..... that sucks..... but if it was old, may have been to your advantage.
Was wondering how you were weathering the storm...
They have kept the Mods busy the past week but it has finally quieted down..... too many Mods - too few trolls - LOL......
And we had a banning good time!!!!
Keep in touch, enjoy the rest of the weekend...

Glad to hear you weathered Ernesto all right, Robivi3. Sorry the modem got cooked - a few days on dial up sure makes us appreciate a high-speed cable or dsl connection a lot more!
Looking forward to your sage words of bk and life wisdom starting up again!I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

(Sorry for jumping your thread, Robiv3i)Originally posted by AMISLANDER View Post...and where would I learn more about that?
Amislander, there are as many domain registration website companies as there are stars in the sky!
Prices vary but typically run under $10.00 a year.
GoDaddy is currently rated as the #1 domain registrar - http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/defaul...isc=good2003at . I haven't used them myself and this is a not an endorsement - just sharing what I found online.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Hi everyone.
The hiatus is not over. Right now the kitchen and one bathroom have been torn out. The caninets are arriving the twelfth and the install starts next day, Home Depot wants a clean painted wall. We are greatly expanding with a new pantry (it will make this kitchen great as it has been SHORT of space.).
I ripped out alot of drywall, no mold, no excess dirt from the formers animals who dwelt here, I'll tell you a filthy, disgusting story one day.
If you don't hear from me it is not because of my loss of composure with Lightning nor was I offended at being called to task, it was a GOOD thing and the counsel was appreciated. Gotta remember I cut my adult teeth in a 100 acre Bus Yard and when I came in some of the old "Roosevelt era white boys" and "Kennedy era Black boys" were still duking it out on the property. I layed out afew stories here a year or two back, no one leaves these jobs, it becomes extended family and the Klan fella's and Kennedy Fella's were even known to drink together. So, even though a good education and sheltered upbringing I ended up in a place where at one time it was put up or shut up. Nowadays that is all changed and so we must follow certain rules, THANKFULLY or we'd be in Bosnia!
Now, on to happier things. My co-workers are leaving for a large Transit system in Georgia in droves. Mostly, good educated people. They are hiring us based on phone interviews and evaluations (several former co-workers are high up now so they have the low-down already, "I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am there ye may also be"). My best friend was hired after a "Fax and Phone interview" today. Several more were hired as supervisors He woke up this am and told his wife, if you don't want me to be angry everyday we need to go now, in that City you won't have to work. Our friends are confirming the 600 dollar a year HO Insurance and PAID family medical. Every one at work is paying over $6000.00 per year for HO Ins. on a single family. I pay 2675.00 for a TH ONLY because only Citizens would write a policy during H/Cane season. If and when another company comes available I will likely pay around 4000,00 to 5000.00. We are now losing three to four people per week. The $18.48 an hour staring pay we laughed at last year has become a living wage, especially considering a friend just bought a BRAND new 4 bdr outside Atlanta for 177k, WITH LAND!!!!!! To us that is like hunting for Unicorns down here!
Oh well, I'll be back but not for awhile, getting the Castle ready to sell.
Thanks, Sinking, got the modem yesterday. A Westell, all three comps up and hooked up! The problem is that even though our network is encrypted the four networks from all the neighbors are not so the kids can still sneek in some extra time when I shut off the ModemLast edited by robivi3; 09-07-2006, 06:09 PM."You once asked me for advice. rob,
I just bet you are speaking of Marta. One of the women my husband worked with in Atlanta is going to work for them. I wish my husband could get on. I really miss Georgia so much. You can get so much house for the $$ there. The only downside is the traffic. For some reason Atlanta never kept up their infrastructure. All the northerners are moving south and so you can imagine what the roads are like. When we first bought our house, it was pure country. We were across the Fulton line in Cherokee Cty (gorgeous mountain views). When we moved it was bumper to bumper clear to our house, and that was only 6 years later.
