Anyone else hear this? FLBK7 04-25-2008, 03:14 PM I heard that the stimulus check is set to arrive 2 days sooner than previously planned. Went to the IRS site and didn't see any changes. Anyone else hear this? Not 2 days early, but 4 days early. Payments that were originally scheduled to be sent "by May 2nd" (the first batch) are now going out this Monday, April 28th. Checks will go out Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (not Thursday). It was on my local news and on CNN. 6ftladycop 04-28-2008, 02:32 PM I checked www.irs.gov and went to a link on that site called "calculator" and once I knew what I was getting based on exact information from my tax forms, I checked another link on the site and according to the last two digits of my ss# 12, I should have been getting something via direct deposit today 4-28-08 since I was in the first bunch with last two digits between 00 and 20. However, nothing was in my account today and I filed using direct deposit. Maybe tomorrow. I sure could use the amount they calculated of 1200.00 yipeeeeeeee!!! dragonnfly 04-28-2008, 04:18 PM They said on the new that they were depositing 800,000 checks on Monday the 28th, 800,000 on Tuesday the 29th and 800,000 on Wednesday the 30th, skipping Thrusday and then on Friday May 2nd 5,000,000 (yes million). So chances are most of us are going to be on Friday. That was on CNN.com. Im waiting not very patiently. workinghard 04-28-2008, 04:49 PM Im waiting not very patiently. DITTO!! Nothing here and the last 2-digi's on my return "09" Same as my DH, ours should deposit the same day as yours. 6ftladycop 04-28-2008, 06:38 PM So if you guys last 2 digits are 09 and mines was 12, if the April 28 deposit was for the first batch which is all of us(00-20) then why was there no money on Monday(today)? I,m not very patient I guess......free money....what can I say... lrprn 04-28-2008, 07:12 PM So if you guys last 2 digits are 09 and mines was 12, if the April 28 deposit was for the first batch which is all of us(00-20) then why was there no money on Monday(today)? Only filers that elected electronic direct deposit of tax refunds when they filed with the IRS will get eletronic 'checks' auto-deposited into their accounts before May 16 based on the last two numbers of your SSN - see that schedule here - http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html Filers that elected to receive a paper refund check when they filed will receive their checks later - the paper check delivery schedule is here as well - http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html . Paper checks will be going out between May 16 and July 11 also based on the last two numbers of your SSN. Single filers are good to go. Howver, if you filed "married jointly", then the IRS is sending the checks according to the SSN of the first filer listed on the tax forms. Hope this helps! JRScott 04-29-2008, 08:47 PM I'm not all to fired up about this stimulus package. I plan to sit on mine or roll it into the house repairs I"ve been working onto, probably half and half. I just think it is a colossal mistake of our government to borrow more money it doesn't have and send it out to everyone. We will have to pay it back. Our government is overspending by about 20% across the board. It's time we realized that and either accepted we have to pay more taxes (which I don't want to do) or realize that the government can't afford all these entitlement programs, war, etc. Stilltheone 04-30-2008, 05:24 AM I just heard of someone with the last numbers 98 and they got theirs today! Critty 04-30-2008, 02:45 PM I prayed all day yesterday that I would not receive our stimulus. I had to wait till yesterday to file bk so that our bank account was less than $300. Without the stimulus, we would be upside down this month. Poor kids need some clothes and shoes that fit. This is the first time in my life that I can say I was happy that I only had $35 in my account at the close of the banking day, lol. justplaintired 04-30-2008, 05:13 PM I prayed all day yesterday that I would not receive our stimulus. This is the first time in my life that I can say I was happy that I only had $35 in my account at the close of the banking day, lol. I can totally relate to your story. We never have much in our acct and since we are waiting on our stimulus check our acct will be huge. Last time it was even close to being this high was when we got our tax check and that we gave to our attorney to file. We aren't filing for awhile because of the fear our checking acct would be too high. I am hoping to take the kids clothes shopping, buy a crap load of groceries, fill up the tanks on our cars and pay off a huge heating bills. Few other things, like maybe fix my muffler on my car, wanted a new water heater, but that isn't going to happen, won't have enough left to do that. Praying ours holds out awhile longer. Anyway, good luck on your BK! workinghard 05-01-2008, 06:36 AM https://sa1.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet?app=IRACTC The IRS now has a tool to check the status for the stimulus payments!! ichb 05-01-2008, 06:37 AM Thank you for that link, it says mine is due in my account on the 2nd. Cali 05-01-2008, 11:11 AM So according to that schedule we should have our payment by tomorrow, so shouldn't it be showing up when I click the link posted? WhatMoney 05-01-2008, 11:40 AM I'm only the messenger. I have no idea what that statement really means. Here's another IRS quote from this new "tool": Remember, in order to qualify for the Stimulus Payment, you must have filed your 2007 tax return more than 6 weeks ago. Below are the schedules for economic stimulus payments related to tax returns processed by April 15, 2008: So maybe you had to file by March 15, 2008 to be processed by April 15, 2008. Who knows? I filed electronically on Apr 4, and I'm not listed yet, but my direct deposit isn't due until May 9. Who really expected a clear statement from the IRS? For what it's worth.... I HAVEN'T filed Bankruptcy. I HAVE received my rebate deposit and the IRS tool DID work for me! I can't explain the problems people are having. One thing I did notice is the IRS website link provided is a "secure" link (It starts with HTTPS://). If it doesn't work for you, maybe you should go to the IRS website and find the link in the normal way without being directed to it externally from this site. In fact, I looked at the URL when I originally followed the link and got a bit of a scare because it didn't exactly look like an official URL. Given that you enter your SSN and some other personal information it would be a real bad way to fall victim to a phishing attempt and give out personal information. I wonder how many others followed the link and provided the information without even thinking about the chance that it might be bogus? I did find my way to the Rebate Status Tool in the normal way throught the IRS website and the URL is legitimate after all. But it was a bit of a scare for a few minutes until I did. shortee 05-02-2008, 07:42 AM We just looked on turbo taxes website . Filed Chapter 7 - 11-30-2007 Discharged: 3-11-2008 but held open for my tax refund. My trustee, (without my knowledge) had my normal tax refund intercepted. My attorney told me to file taxes normally and once money was deposited, I had to get a certified check for the amount Trustee was taking from refund - but trustee had IRS send him the check. I had filed taxes for direct deposit. But IRS sent paper check to my trustee. NOW, I am wondering if my stimulus check will be direct deposited, or if the IRS will send my stimulus check to my trustee in the same way they did the taxes???? I've asked my attorney's paralegal and she had no clue. At same time I asked if I get to keep the check, and she said "I think so - because you filed bk before the stimulus was made into law - don't spend it and call back when you get it and she would check." Just wondering if anyone else had something similar to this happen. I've tried the "where's my stimulus" and it will not work for me. Last 2 digits are 39 - so I am hoping next week it will come?! I HOPE shortee 05-02-2008, 09:12 AM I would have to say that is not the reason, we filed with Turbo Tax and had the refund direct deposited. We also had the fee taken from our refund. I was assured by the IRS agent my deposit was coming next Friday. Guess not! shortee 05-02-2008, 01:02 PM I guess ichb is just lucky. You can't believe everything the IRS tells you. This only applies to those that used Santa Barbara Bank & Trust to pay for your Turbotax fees. If you used the TurboTax free filing online program (for low income filers), or you paid for TT and filing fees without using the RT service, you should still get direct deposit of the stimulus, based on the turbotax link posted above. "This applies only to TurboTax customers who used the "refund transfer" or RT service when filing their 2007 tax returns. The service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, under an agreement with the bank. This allows customers to pay using their refunds, rather than credit cards. This IRS decision also applies to taxpayers who used "refund anticipation loans" or RALs (loans made to tax filers against their expected refunds) on their 2007 returns. TurboTax does not offer RALs." Not that anyone realized this when filing online; as usual IRS rules keep expanding until they are incomprehensible. Cali 05-02-2008, 01:40 PM I have given up trying to figure out this stimulus thing. shortee 05-02-2008, 01:48 PM I talked to the irs today. they told me there is a catch for this direct deposit of your check. if you filed your taxes with a third party (taxslayer, turbo tax, etc....) you will get a paper check not direct deposit. i knew there would be a catch there always is. As the above post What money mentioned I guess you cant always listen to the IRS. As of this afternoon, I have heard more people that I know received their checks when they used turbo tax. As the link I showed above it was only mentioned people who used the Santa Barbara Bank & Trust. So whoever used their CC or probably their debit card there fine and will be receiving it shortly :) So here I am waiting patiently lol :) justplaintired 05-02-2008, 02:18 PM What if I paid to file my 2007 taxes with my refund money using Santa Barbara Bank & Trust? Even if you have received or will receive your tax refund by direct deposit to your bank account, the IRS will not do the same for your tax rebate in this instance. It will mail your rebate instead. In its preparations for issuing rebates, the IRS decided that taxpayers who entered into financial transactions with third parties, such as Santa Barbara Bank & Trust (the taxpayer and TurboTax being the first two parties), would receive their rebates by mail. This applies only to TurboTax customers who used the "refund transfer" or RT service when filing their 2007 tax returns. TurboTax does not offer RALs. I found this on the turbo tax site. I used taxact, but had my fees for using them taken from my return, which mean we are screwed. We won't be getting it direct deposited, it will be mailed! This totally sucks! Why didn't they clarify this on the IRS site? I mean alot of people I know filed their taxes using this programs and had their fees taken out of the refund. Doesn't say this anywhere on their stupid site! All it does say is if you had your refund direct deposit and what your ss number is and that's it! Just our luck! I did say we should expect our checks on May 9th rather then the original May 16th. This delays our filing even longer! hendry70 05-02-2008, 03:24 PM Well, my ssn ends in 12 and I still haven't received anything. So much for their timetable. workinghard 05-02-2008, 03:37 PM I used HR Block tax software and Direct Deposit ... I'm just thankful I got mine....and hope everyhone gets theirs soon. It's not much cash but it helps. beachgirl 05-02-2008, 03:46 PM I have been trying to get an answer from my attorney, but no luck so far. Does anyone know if a chapter 13 filer in GA can keep their stimulus money? I can't find anything and haven't heard for sure. Also, would it be awful to take some and have a little anniversary trip for my hubby & I? We havent been able to do that in so long it would be great!! justplaintired 05-02-2008, 03:47 PM Ok, I just got off the phone with the IRS and Turbotaxes website is correct. It appears that anyone who did their taxes using TurboTax, TaxAct, paid their fees out of the refund rather then using a debit or cc, or used HR Block RAL will be getting theirs mailed rather then direct deposited. Something about our refunds went thru a third party. So if you used any of these methods for your refund, you might as well sit back and wait. According to the IRS website the date of mailings has been moved up by about a week, however the mailed checks cover fewer numbers per week. Ours will be mailed out on May 9th. So here's a question I have, do you have to deposit the whole thing into your bank acct if it's a paper check? How will anyone know how much you received if it's a paper check. Now I am not talking about lying to the trustee. I just don't know exactly what we should do with that check. Should we cash it and keep receipts showing how it was spent? In a way, not having that much deposited into our checking acct is good isn't it? I was worried about that. One bad thing is this will delay filing even longer. I was hoping we could file by beginning of June, now I just don't know. Depends on when we can get that check spent. According to their site we will receive almost $1800. Scheduling repairs on the car and getting repairs done on our home will be a matter of when we can get this stuff done. I am just glad we didn't already schedule this stuff since who knows when that check will get here. PaKettle 05-02-2008, 05:21 PM I used TurboTax but paid for my filing with my debit card. Got my tax refund direct deposited. But the IRS stimulus check site does not work for my social #. I get an error message saying they can't process my request. I figure there are so many of these things going out, there are bound to be a certain amount of problems. Then, the fact that we're dealing with the IRS - we have to consider ourselves lucky if we get it at all. Luckily we don't "need" the money right now. I just don''t want to have to be calling the IRS 2 months from now, saying "I did not get my check!" Hopefully THAT won't happen. Flamingo 05-03-2008, 04:16 AM What time was it deposited? Don't know but it went in after midnight on 5/2. Was there when I checked early Friday a.m. Flamingo 05-03-2008, 04:22 AM Well, my ssn ends in 12 and I still haven't received anything. So much for their timetable. My hubby's SS ends in "09" (filed joint and refund auto deposited) and we just received it yesterday via auto deposit in checking account - deposited early a.m. on 5/2. Bobby'sGirl 05-03-2008, 05:56 AM and my deposit was on 5/2. I use a small regional bank: wasn't there at 2 am when I went to bed, but showed up by 9 am when I checked Friday am. I used IRS "free file" online via Intuit (TurboTax) and had no tax liability, so received $300. And will use it to help pay property taxes coming up. honeybear4 05-03-2008, 08:00 PM I used taxslayer for our taxes with direct deposit. paid the fee with my debit card. so i wonder if we will be getting direct deposit or paper check. i tried that where's my simulus payment with my ss but it couldn't provide any info. i'll just wait and see what happens. honeybear4 05-03-2008, 08:35 PM :( Cali 05-05-2008, 06:41 AM I heard some people that weren't able to get info from the link last week, are able this week. DisneyGirl 05-05-2008, 08:27 AM I heard some people that weren't able to get info from the link last week, are able this week. Thanks for the heads up, it didn't work for me on Friday but worked this morning. Says ours will be ready May 16th but it does go on to say, "your check" so I'm guessing we're getting a mailed check? I'm not sure why since we did use direct deposit so who knows. It's just nice to have a time frame. Cali 05-05-2008, 09:33 AM I just checked, and it is showing up now with a deposit date of 5/16. The actual schedule dates, said we should've gotten it last week, since our last 2 digits is 06. FLBK7 05-05-2008, 03:12 PM I just checked: "Your payment of $600.00 is scheduled to be deposited to your bank on May 9, 2008. If you do not receive the credit by May 14, 2008, please contact us again. We are unable to take any action until then." My SS ends in 30. So it is going according to the original schedule after all. Cali 05-05-2008, 04:09 PM I wish it would have gone with our original schedule, but at least I know it will be here this week(only 1 week late). I just checked: "Your payment of $600.00 is scheduled to be deposited to your bank on May 9, 2008. If you do not receive the credit by May 14, 2008, please contact us again. This means we went threw a third part, I have no idea what I am talking about, just what the IRS told me when I called. So now we are getting a paper check mailed out on May 16th. That really sucks for us because we are having work done on cars and house and that is what we are paying for it with. We can't file until we have spent ours down and now that will take longer since we are not getting it for another 1 1/2 weeks. ann1073 05-05-2008, 07:40 PM I heard some people that weren't able to get info from the link last week, are able this week. It didn't work for me last week or today, but tonight it says that we should have ours deposited on the 9th. Funny thing, though, I spoke with the IRS this morning and she said that it's already been deposited and rejected by our bank (we've changed accounts since our refund) and it's now showing we have a paper check dated May 19th that we should receive by the end of this week. Ya gotta love the consistancy! Stilltheone 05-06-2008, 06:21 AM The irs still can't find me....makes me nervous!! bmcmull 05-06-2008, 07:14 AM I did direct deposit this year and they still sent me a check ? We can't file until we have spent ours down and now that will take longer since we are not getting it for another 1 1/2 weeks. We filed with H & R Block and paid our fees upfront. Hubby thinks it's because H&R made an error and we had to file an amendment and the second payment we got from the IRS on the amendment was a paper check (first was direct deposit). I was mad at the girl at H&R Block for making the mistake back when it happened, if she's the reason we're getting a paper check for this too, I'll never go back to them again. Grrrrr!!!! We need that money to get our minivan's transmission fixed. Right now we are out our minivan and Hubby got rearended so his car is at the body shop! We're stuck with a Ford Focus rental car - family of 4, two special needs kids and all their "equipment" just does not fit in a Focus!!! momof5 05-06-2008, 08:37 AM We were all set to file last week! ( I mean paperwork signed dated and ready to send in!) I delayed it because these darn checks were supposed to be here 'early' Well I still show nothing on the irs website. I called the IRS. Supposedly because I amended our income tax the very end of March to add an additional $10 dollars of interest income our stimulus could be delayed 8 weeks!! I asked what would have happened if I just didnt do the amendment(form 1040x) The man said " for such a small amount it wouldnt have been picked up by the system" You have got to be kidding me! here I wanted to be as honest as possible. It changed NOTHING on our income tax return. We had already received our refund in February and the amount was exactly the same. So then I ask the dreaded question why will it take 8 weeks. He said Amended returns go into the computer and are taken care of AFTER original tax returns. I asked if he could flag my account that it was a really really really really really easy amendment and he was very nice saying even if he could it wouldnt matter no one would notice. So I wonder what to do now? I still see no information on New York state trustees taking stimulus but then again I dont see any information on them not taking it either. I'll wait another week or so and then just do what needs to be done. If it wasnt so much money I wouldnt bother. We are delaying filing because of needing the stimulus check for so many different things and we just can't afford to lose it. So, instead of filing the beginning of this month, it will most likely run into sometime in middle of June possibly even the end of June. I am praying the creditors will leave us alone that long. We have to wait on the stimulus check because I had the fees taken out of the refund, even though the refund was direct deposited! What a pain. Maybe talk to your attorney about this, find out what they say. I think right now it's anyone's guess what the trustees will do and personally, we just can't afford to lose that check. Our will be almost $1800.00 and since I don't see any other way to do the stuff we need to use that money for, we have no choice but to wait. Good luck!
