Question Do Attorney review sites exist?

Are there any sites that have Attorney reviews? I think a place where people can report lackluster Attorneys or ones that do a good job would be very helpful.

In any event I have asked this question a long time ago and thought since I am serious about filing now to ask it again. I know its a shot in the dark but was hoping someone on here could recommend an Attorney in the Saint Lous metro area.

    Thanks!

Mark your question has been asked before and the Forum gods will not allow any particular request for advisement of a perticular attorney or company. I too wish I had a place to see the track record as we have a lawyer who stinks. You can make a complaint to the bar I guess. Go google the State you live in bar. Maybe they do have such a thing. Mark you can check out the cases in your area and how well the attorney's did.
Or you can just go talk to 2-3 and go with your gut feeling.

The best way to obtain a qualified attorney is to contact one's own State Bar Association which is in the phone book under your "State" area/section. They can give references for reputable attorneys in certain fields. When you obtain those names, you can search them on line or the law firms they may be with.

You can check on Pacer, at your Courthouse, or like Flamingo suggested State Bar Association.

I used PACER to find out that the first attorney I checked out was a lying sack of.......well, you know. He wanted to push me into a Chapter 13 and promised payments as low as $50/mo. So I spent about an hour on PACER and yes, it did cost me about $25, but I quickly found out that the guy in all of his Chapter 13 cases proposed rediculous low-ball payments between $50 and $100/mo. The case that sticks out in my head was one where the debtor started with a $125 or $150/mo payment and then it went to $770. So yeah, they got to pay low payments for 2 or 3 months and then it blew up into something far different from what he started them at.

              My $25 was well-spent.

Ok, I am in.....what should I be looking at? Cases discharged or?

Also, should I consider an attorney who is also a Trustee?

                    Thanks.

If you are in your profile, you should see a short list on the left-hand side of the screen. We always look at the 'Document History' or something like that. I don't have our account up right now. But the history gives a list of Document Titles sorted by the date they were filed. There will be a number to the left hand side of that list that has a hyperlink attached to it. Click on that to view the document in question.

Be aware that it costs $0.08 per page to view the document. Eight cents doesn't sound like much, but it adds up and can become costly.

Also don't become 'addicted' to pacer, and don't stress when something doesn't always appears right after its has happened. It usually takes a day or two for something new to be posted.

I can't advise about the Attorney / Trustee question, but others here can.

                      Good luck~~~

OK, to add to Ms.Cat's comment, you must have Acrobat Reader (PDF reader) and if you wish, SAVE to your own hard drive in a folder you can easily find, all your stuff. Then when you go back to PACER, you won't pay again for stuff you saw before. I rename my stuff by the number PACER puts on my document. When you go back to their index to see new stuff, you know what is new by the number. 'Hub

I called the trustee's office and they recommended 2 or 3 good attorneys.

What is this exactly? I have a few Attorneys I found for BK in my area and would like to check up on them. Is that what PACER is used for?

Not really. Although many people probably use it for that, it is more of an online timeline of each debtors bankruptcy case. You can search by various things such as the debtor's name, case #, attorney, etc. Since bankruptcy info is public you can look at tons of info on PACER and get a pretty good story of how things went by looking at the various documents.

When I looked, there were cases going back to the late 80s. I don't know if that is because of the age of my lawyer or if the system only goes back that far. However, you can read through people's cases who have filed through your attorney. Going back to my example, I quickly found out that the first guy that I went to seemed great in the meeting until he mentioned his $50/mo plan payments and that didn't sit well since you have to have $100/mo to support a BK13 from what I understand. Thats when I signed up for PACER to see what he was really about. I found out about his proposed low-ball payments and that 95% of his clients were in 13's and had to change their payments multiple times which typically went up by hundreds of dollars from the original figure.
