And you didn't fill out anything that looked like a credit application? I think the only thing it asks for when you do it is like to confirm your birthday and the last 4 digits of your social. Sorry to hear you got a hard though.... I've never heard of anyone getting a hard for doing that.

it did.
i really don't care that much. but i just thought i should mention it because i got notified by credit karma of the hard hit.
jb, no it said you had a HARD inquiry. so, i took that for a hard hit as opposed to a "soft" one? they sent me an email (lol, one i got jb
). just a notification stating my credit has had a hard inquiry?

I was just wondering because the behavior I described appears to be how CapitalOne does their offers. I was just wondering how Tobee could get a "hard inquiry" alert... but maybe it was actually a soft? Who knows! Stranger things have certainly happened.

No, its not supposed to. We have a HUGE thread about this on the other forum... nobody has ever reported getting a hard from it.Originally posted by justbroke View PostIt might do a soft pull for the "pre-approval", but if you accept the offer and complete the application, it does the hard pull. Just my thought.

O.o I don't see how that is possible... you didn't actually apply for the card right? Did you accept it? I have never seen "the shopping cart trick" give someone a hard pull.

thanks amy, i just know i don't need any more pots. LOL!! i checked the site it does have some nice things. also i realized i knew that name from somewhere ....but it was pottery barn kids?? i thought it was potty barn, that's how much i know about it. but the good news is we have expecting another baby in the family and that's where they get their sheets and stuff, so i made a good mistake! now my DDIL (well she's really not darling), can buy her own stuff for the baby i can just give her the card...very cool and all my accident!Originally posted by Amy26 View PostWFNNB is now Comenity.
You can Opt In or Opt Out... this is the universal program for getting preapproved offers and stuff. If you got the offer, then you're probably opt'd in. You are opt'd in by default if you haven't turned it off. I'm opt'd out at the moment cause I hate getting all those spams.
Pottery Barn is a nice store... sell all kinds of stuff.

It needs to link your name with your address. The limits will be small at first but you can get regular CLIs with soft pulls every 3 months or so. The CLIs are usually small as well. For my husband and I, we were able to get offers from Value City Furniture, Victoria's Secret, King Size Direct, J.Jill, OneStopPlus (this one is an actual Visa) and Buckle. I didn't actually take most of those cards though because you don't really want a ton of store cards on your credit but they do serve as a nice little no hard pull account.
my wife couldn't get credit anywhere and I opened her a victoria secret, buckle, express and target and bam 4 lines of credit. It upped her score a lot.
