    Requesting a Chex Systems Report

    About Chex Systems, Inc.

The Chex Systems, Inc network is comprised of member Financial Institutions that regularly contribute information on mishandled checking and savings accounts to a central location. ChexSystems shares this information among member institutions to help them assess the risk of opening new accounts. ChexSystems only shares information with the member institutions and does not decide on new account openings.

They may only SHARE info, but once you are in their systems......some banks look at you if you have a fatal disease!!

Sad thing is even if you pay your debt, you stay in their system for 5 years. One the other hand, if you are in Tele-checks system, once you pay your debt, you are removed off.

I think I am still in Chexsystems records, however, my bank let it slide since it was paid off. BankOne..now Chase, and Fifth/Third Bank wouldn't let it slide, and wouldn't open an account for me.

Oh well I have had our account for over 3-4 yrs now and love them

If you notify chexsystems of your bk they will remove you, it worked for me.

I've only had one check ever go over (so my bank covered it, but charged a fee) so I'm going to get a report to see if they let one slide--especially since I cleared things up the next day.

Why won't the Chexsystem website see a report on you/if you're on there online, like credit reporting agencies do? They make you print out an order form, complete it and send it to them by mail? Are they still in the 1800's?

When I went to open an account with CCCU online. The system denied me and stated I had something on the Chex System preventing me from opening an account. The weird thing was when I called CCCU the rep told me there wasn't anything and that I could open an account and she couldn't explain why the system did what it did. I had faxed over my Bk Discharge to the Chex System peoples before I had called the CCCU rep, so I'm assuming whatever was on their the Chex people cleared off right away - maybe thats why the CCCU rep didn't see anything odd??? I agree with CindyLynnSmith, its very fast!

So they'll just remove you due to the BK?

I requested a report and saw that Bank of America had reported me, due to "ACCOUNT ABUSE", since I had a payday loan company that kept trying to do transfers from an account of mine and BoA racked me up $1,500 worth of $32 NSF fees before the account got closed.

Since all my BoA accounts were on the BK, ChexSystem can get rid of that on my report?

I would love to know the answer to your question myself.

I posted this in another thread but I'm re-posting it here hoping it helps someone else:

I mailed my dispute form and documentation on 3/24/09 and received a letter from Chex dated 4/2/09. It says:

                    "Dear ________

We are in receipt of your recent correspondence, which included a copy of a document indicating that bankruptcy has been filed which affects the following information.
[Lists 4 items (2 were duplicate entries), only 3 of which I disputed because one was sent after the date of my earlier Chex report so I didn't know it was on there, but it was also included in my BK]

Please be advised that based on the bankruptcy filing, the information above has been removed from your consumer file at ChexSystems."

WOO HOO. They didn't send a new report though, which I would like to see with my own two eyes........lol. I can't believe they even removed the fourth item that I didn't even dispute. They must have just looked at the date the bank reported it, which was a month after I filed. But I didn't even send them the page of the petition showing this item.

                        Amazing information and thread!

I opened a credit union checking acct a few months ago and was declined a 'regular' checking account because of filing bk and discharging an overdrafted checking account with my last credit union.

The new CU forced me into a "high risk" checking account where I paid $10 a month for a year to have the privelege of banking with them. After a year, the monthly charge is removed.

I just got off the phone with Chex Systems and am faxing my 341 notice, and discharge papers 'right now'.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for this information

I went to the site, applied for a report just a minute ago. Will arrive in less than 5 days.
I do believe that this system was used to determine our car insurance scores.......
Not sure on this, but I recall seeing it as part of the scoring reasoning explained on our car insurance renewals. hmmmmmm........

So do I understand this correctly, if you have not had a problem with overdrafts, or check charges of any kind, you shouldn't have a problem with the cheksystems just because of the bankruptcy of credit card debt?

That is correct. It mainly only becomes a problem if you have bounced a check or had a bank account closed due to a negative balance or something of that nature.
