It looks as though I'll be filing for a chapter 13 soon. My child will be needing transportation in the next few months and I have the opportunity to pay $900 cash for a used car. If I go ahead and get this car while I can, will this be an issue for me when I file?

Normally the personal property exemption is to be used for all of your personal property - everything (clothing, furniture, bank accounts, autos etc). Sometimes the exemptions are specific (like here in Fl we can only have a $1000 auto exemption). So check your states' exemptions to make sure there are no limitations on how to use that $10,000.Filed CH 7 9/30/2008
