I immed sent her an email and asked for her discretion by this person has no class! It was too late to recall once i realized what i had done! Sh*t!!!!

I know! Put an F in front of that! Oh crap! I just think the cat is out if the proverbial bag! So now what? The worst that can happen is that i am fodder for rumer mill and frankly they can all get yucked! But if HR finds out and can refuse me a promotion that would be my biggest concern!
      Yuck it!

Yuck 'em all! Let them talk! Who cares what they think? If you are deserving of a promotion and your HR department isn't totally yucked, I am sure this won't get in your way.

If she gossips, head to HR, use the phrase "hostile work environment" Or, if your payments are through payroll deduction, complain that your situation has gotten out and it MUST be someone in HR, which is a breach of confidentiality. Maybe even get your attorney involved. Best of luck to you!

You might consider asking the last time the company you work for used the BK tool to re-align their debt in order to stay in business.

Hope it is resolved to your liking.

Thanks you guys! What a bonehead move on my part! Such in idiot I am! Actually in my haste I didn't mention that she used to work there but is now retired! She is friends with lots people there though.

But I have given it some thought. Besides yuck'em! Which still stands! But besides that, I stand by my decision to do this bk 13, it is what I chose to do out of my not so good options.

But it is an option for a reason. I was able to choose it for a reason too.

It boils down to this.... If she spills the beans than she has less class or character then she should have and I pity her! Right?

It's my choice and I don't feel like less of a person for making it. This totally freaked me out, but it gave me a new perspective on this situation.

Would I rather it be private? Yes! Finances are private. But in the end I could care less what they think because honestly, people like that are beneath pond scum!

Thanks for listening and be careful emailing! That is also my take away!

I can almost guarantee that IF word spreads... someone will be coming to you to ask your advice on how they, too, can solve their debt problems.
Good luck, it will all work out ok.
Frankly I'd be very happy to see the shame factor taken out. Companies "reorganize" their debt all the time, completely shamelessly.

Yep. When I was getting ready to file, I talked about it quite a bit. A lot of people were very interested to hear how it works and how it might help them.

Keep smiling, it's true that it's a financial decision and should be less emotional. It's just hard as an individual to separate the two. I agree with you that it shouldn't be diff than business though.

LITR, I wish I has been more open about it from the start too. There was a coworker that filed a 7 a few years ago and she told everyone. I didn't even tell her when I filed. When ever the subject of BK or foreclosure comes up, I seem to button my lip. There was one group of guys that sat in the lunch room and read out loud all the foreclosers in the news paper, like the sports page! It made me terribly sad as they were so smug about it.

Thank you guys. Today I woke up kind of numb to it now. I have distanced myself at work and it is easy to avoid people. I rather like it that way because drama is less when you keep to yourself! :-). Unless you are careless with email! :-)))
