Our lawyer said if we need to change things it will cost us 250.00. And if we have to go to court he will charge 250.00 an hour above what we already paid him. Which was 2500.00. This is why we are so called waiting cause he said that we can technically make what we want when we are "locked" in. One of those I am not suppose to tell you but I did type of things.
Dac, what state are you in?

It will cost extra to get your plan amended because it requires a court filing fee and the hourly fee for your lawyer's work on the motion. $250 is a pretty typical price for this - our lawyer quoted us the same amount if we needed to file a simple plan amendment.

The way I see it, it's $250 now or take the chances of having your plan dismissed down the road because the payments are too high and eventually you'll fall behind and not be able to make them. Personally I would start finding every way possible to scrape that $250 together. And if you are unhappy with your current lawyer, start interviewing for a new one. If he/she is being paid through the plan, then that payment could be moved to the new lawyer. Unfortunately unless you are lucky to find one that is compassionate for your situation, you are likely going to pay some upfront money again. Won't hurt to go find out what your options are. Please keep us posted on what happens, ok?
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
