I still think it's odd that you won't tell us what caused your disability....kind of fishy but nonetheless~~Many of us here talk about very personal things. We dont know you behind a screen name. Many here are very open about their cases because it helps us to understand and to assist you.
As the previous poster has said.....
The reason I think it's fishy is because you have over 130K of student loans and are now disabled. We wondered if an accident caused this AFTER you were done with school or if it was an ongoing illness. You HAD to of gone to school for an advanced degree obviously, but the fact that your disability caused you to not pursue it is throwing up red flags to me anyway. ( IMO )....it's YOUR business and that's fine but we're trying ( or at least I am ) to get the whole picture.
Originally posted by scrabble View PostI had a very stong case. The reason for filing Bankruptcy in the first place was because the Department of Education (DOE) approved my Loan Dischage Applicaion for Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) on my federal student loans, and it passed medical review, only to be denied a few months later when the DOE determined I inadvertently had a loan disbursement a few days after the date my doctor certified my disability. According to the DOE you are not eligible for TPD discharge if you were totally and permanently disabled before receiving the last disbursement on any federal student loans. I signed up for the loans about a year prior to that date and I had no control over the disbursement date of my loans to the school.
An example TPD form is proided here:
* Please note: The TPD form is currently expired and the Department of Education is in the process of releasing new forms on July 1, 2008.
My private student loans do not have provisions for those who become disabled, which is unfair to say the least.Last edited by MajorMike; 06-23-2008, 02:56 AM.Filed: October 1, 2007 341: December 10, 2007

It doesn't matter what caused her dieability. The fact of the matter is no matter how long any of us have been here we are not truly qualified to solve her problem. It wouldn't do any good knowing what caused the disibility as our answers are not set in stone cures. She needs to seek professional advice from attorneys. Initial consultations are usually free. See as many as you can, in different fields that might have something to so with your case. After that, take in all the info and decide on a course of action. We are not the ones to give you that kind of specific advice.
