Will do... I think we are going to be ready to meet with our lawyer this Friday to bring him all the paperwork (and payment) to file! I just can't wait to get this behind us so we can move on. I just told my wife how nice it's been over the past couple months using only cash to pay for things. I feel so much better... but am kicking myself for getting into this mess!

ahhhhh buster...we ALL went through that "kicking ourselves in the butt" stage...life happens...job loss...illness...(in our personal case), however, it's increased interest rates, cut hours, prices going up with out salary increases and so on and so forth...it's NOT YOU...it's just the times.

i just read on of the post about a 341 and the poster mentioned how surprising to see the room filled with people in their 50's and 70's and how said they lost their entire retirements...the poster expected to see many "younger" people in their 20's and 30's...so there is NO age barriers here...and apparently...no financial ones either.

don't be so hard on yourself, you'll have to learn to try and forgive yourself, you had no control over this one.... most likely.

We have all kicked ourselves buster123. But in the end, it is what it is. The best thing you can do is to make the best of your situation. Make sure you have a good attorney that can make sure that you stayed qualify for Chapter 7. That's the last thing you want to do is to be pushed into Chapter 13.

Also, a lot folks don't realize how expensive it is to live in New York. So the trustees there are very used to seeing high expenses for day care, etc.

Also, I don't remember, but did you include property taxes in your form?
            Filed Chapter 7: 7/3/09
            341 Hearing: 8/6/09 - Went Smoothly!
            Discharged: 11/30/2009
            Closed: 12/16/2009

Yes, my mortgage payment includes property taxes.
