    Dear bkadv:

    You are in my thoughts. I read your first post to my husband who agrees that what happened to you was wrong. However, ducksinarow does have a point. Preachers are human, too.

    We are in a situation where our church is almost dividing because of so many changes, the preachers, money, etc. My husband is also in a praise and worship band. I've been really mad at our pastor at times and just have to pray.

    We will all get through this!!

      Year of Jubilee

      My mom had a real struggle with the idea of declaring bankruptcy, from a Christian standpoint. But the attorney explained to her that bankruptcy is a biblical concept, taken from the Old Testament "Year of Jubilee". Every 7 years, all debts were to be forgiven. He said even the time frame for being able to declare bankruptcy again is taken from that biblical standard. This year, plus 6 years, equals the 7th year: Jubilee

        Parable of the Debtor

        There is a parable from Jesus; somebody owed (in today's money) a billion dollar against the King. But, the King forgave the debt.

        The person who owed that huge sum then went home, found a guy who owed him a thousand dollar, and beat the debtor.

        The King got enraged with that behavior, and threw the person into the dungeon.

        ============

        In God's eye, everyone is a sinner. Nobody is supposed to judge someone in the church as 'more sinful' than self.

        If people judge someone who declared bk, it's time to leave that church.

          From the Lord's Prayer:

          Our Heavenly Father, may your name be honored;
          May your kingdom come, and your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
          Give us this day the bread we need,
          Forgive us what we owe to you, as we have also forgiven those who owe anything to us.
          Keep us clear of temptation, and save us from evil.

          if they can't do that, it's their problem.
