Mommy Blogger McKMama's Bankruptcy Problems

LOL, she's not The Pioneer Woman. Though I hear PW has her own detractors. But...the biggest criticism I've heard of her is that she allegedly plagiarized some old school recipes. Or something.

well you are not alone pandora, that was my very first blog i ever read as well. i'm just into following others lives.. our own plate is way to full to worry about others. although, i always have a special prayer or two for those in need. however, it's just like facebook, which we have never been on ever. i don't want people in the middle of our lives and i certainly don't want to get into the middle of theirs.
i am sure, there are probably some very interesting blogs about interesting subjects written by interesting people. i'm just so overloaded with all this information!! i have no room in my head to store it all and my house is small so i can't even file it anywhere in the house. i know the more you know the better one should be, but i have to but a limit on all this stuff i read with the little time i have.
overload for me!

I just looked at my first blog EVER (the one above) and really?... *dumb stare like Cartman off of Southpark*
Every damn picture looks like it came from a magazine! What mom with 1 kid let alone 5 has time to take pictures of their every waking moment, mishap, belly button shot, perfect hair, clothing, not a speck of dirt on faces, etc? Daaaammmnn - I barely have time to come on HERE with all the crap I've got to do around the house, yard, inside house, etc - all before our son gets home from school and hubby from work. AND.. my hair might get "all purty, straight and fixed" 4 days out of 7 - other than that its up in a flippy-floppy pony-tail twisty thing LOL.
Make-up?!
WTH is THAT most days?! Yeah, here, lemme get all dolled up to go cut the open 3 acres out back before traipsing thru the woods to the pond and then weed the garden. Oh..and son - fix your hair, iron your clothes and dont get any dirt on you.... I need to take some pictures. *eye roll*
yeah riiiiggghhhtttt.....
Hell when I actually do have time to get dolled up, hubby comes home from work, opens the door and says "We goin' somewhere honey?" I of course, give him that "huh?" look..and he does the once up and down, then says "Well.. you're done up...we goin' somewhere?"
BAWHAHAHHAHA!
on second thought...what is hubby tryin' to tell me? LOL I thought I looked good no matter what... Hmmmm...

I think...there's a lot of different things going on here. Some of us (include myself in this group), started following this blogger when her boy was sick. We prayed for him (and her) and followed every update hoping that he would be ok. And then he was.
But many of us were drawn in by her pretty pictures and stories of her children. I, personally, felt a kinship to her because I also have four children very close in age. She was inspiring to me. She was able to take her four kids here, there, and everywhere...alone (or so she made it seem) and I could barely get my four dressed every day.
But then, things didn't add up. Many of us in this camp had "light bulb moments." Moments of, "Hey. Wait a minute..."
Personally, I think it all went to heck when she acknowledged that she and her husband had lost their lake house. T me, I couldn't understand how they could lose their lake house and then buy a half million dollar luxury home...IN THE SAME YEAR!
Anyways, some of the other folks latched onto the train wreck later. This blogger has gone on like nothing is happening and is picking up readers. These readers then start to feel like "something isn't adding up" or they hear about the mwop blog and they go looking out of curiosity and end up getting sucked in.
There are lots and lots of folks researching this particular blogger and the information has been pieced together bit by bit from all of them.
She really is a mess...but if you checked out her fb page, you wouldn't know it!

I never read McKMama's blog until after I saw a news article somewhere that blog readers were getting involved with her BK. To young moms, home with kids (McKMama has 5 kids!), these women are someone to read about and compare notes with and feel like they are doing an okay job with their kids. I also think it makes non-working moms feel less isolated at home.
I have run across some blogs here and there in news articles then I read the blogs they reference in the article. I mostly read a blog once and never go back and read it again. There are a couple I look at a few times per month. I do have horrible insomnia and hubby travels a lot - so there are times I read blogs because they are free and I haven't been to the library lately or I don't want to spend $ to buy a book for my NOOK. Oh, and they are cheaper than an online Poker 'issue', too! LOL
Example 1: I read a newspaper article about this mom whose daughter passed away due to prematurity issues and whose Mother's Walk donation to the March of Dimes had skyrocketed due to her blog readers donating in her daughter's memory. Well, then I HAD to find and go read the blog. It was like reading a novel - risky pregnancy, premature baby, baby does well with a few lung issues but otherwise is ok - happy mom dad and baby. Baby has first birthday, eats her first cupcake at a friend's party and then baby catches what seems to be a little cold and is dead within a few hours. :sniff sniff: Now, I just pop in to check and see how Maddie's little sister is doing every few months.
Example 2: A friend of mine lost her son in Afghanistan due to a suicide bomber hitting his Humvee. Out of the 4 soldiers in the Humvee, 2 lived and 2 died. My friend later told me about a blog the mom of one of the survivors was using to record the recovery of her son. I got a little more involved with this one - reading there about once a week. The VA has been hard to deal with for his continuing care and some of the caseworkers seem very vindictive with the mom. The mom finally (after 2+ years) has the ability to be paid/insured for giving up her job to look after her son. So, to me, those issues were a 'hook' to becoming interested in this blog.
Most blogs have friend bloggers who they list (with links) down the side of their blog pages. That is how I do what I call "blog-hopping" when I have insomnia.
But DAYUM! I can see why to some people some of these blogs are better than any soap opera!! IMHO, some of these bloggers definitely need a brain to keyboard filter because they talk about EVERYTHING!! A prime example is this mommy blogger and her bankruptcy - like Tobee just said above sometimes it is best to "keep your personal business in your own zipped pocket!"

ok...I gotta ask (sheepishly I might add)...
How exactly does one find these blogs and become that interested? LOL Good lord..I couldnt tell you how to find a blog let alone an "interest" I'd be interested in enough to the point that OTHER people would actually call a Trustee, let alone go through someone's medical records/posts regarding every single aspect of their life?!
I dont get it...
I cannot stand "reality tv" let alone following some boring person online
Maybe its just me?? Please 'splain to those of us that arent familiar with the blogging world.

there is a moral to the story here: keep your personal business in your own zipped pocket! wow what a mess.

Saw that. I have to wonder if the author of that blog is a member over at mwop. Hard to tell who's who, ya know? It's a well-written, well-documented article.

Wow... another article here by a blogger (? I think) called FraudFiles:
Once upon a time, there was a popular mommy blogger named Jennifer McKinney. She called herself MckMama, and had a blog called My Charming Kids. She was not noteworthy in any way – – un…
They do use MWOP as a reference but it is well organized reading.

Papie, I haven't been on bkforum for some time...though I have spent my fair share here. I thought for sure this blogger's bankruptcy would have already have made it here. Kind of surprised it apparently hasn't. I'm very interested in hearing what some of the regulars here have to say about the case.
I almost choked when I read that transcript of her telling the trustee the website wasn't his to sell. I wish I could have seen her face when he put her in her place.

I've been following this blogger off and on for years. I was wondering if anyone on BkForum had been following, I guess so!
I've given her the side-eye for a long time and I assumed her bankruptcy filing would be shady, but I didn't really it would be THAT shady. I don't know how many times she had posted on her blog about how they got their finances in order and paid taxes and all that jazz. Then it's revealed that she rakes in over $20k per month, and doesn't pay anything, and even stiffed their poor landlord with months of electric and gas bills....all while accepting freebies and handouts from her followers.
I'll be interested to see how it turns out, being as she already told the trustee her websites aren't his to sell. It should be...interesting in a really sad way.

And can I add...I would like to make 100k a year blogging...and to think, she's not even that well known of a blogger. She's much smaller than, say, Pioneer Woman, or even Kelle Hampton. She could have been big, but when you lie and cheat and ban people constantly from you're blog...well, it leaves a sour taste for most readers.

Hah, not malice noted. :-)
Theirs is like a 100 level course on how NOT to file bankruptcy. Having followed this blogger as long as I have, and having seen her intent with other things, I feel pretty certain their omissions and transfers of assets were intentional. There's a LOT to dig through, and some outright blatant lies she told the trustee. If he catches on, they're in big trouble.

I am sorry, sweetpea. LOL pm-ing the info never crossed my mind. My intent was not malicious.
Reading the transcripts it seems almost like they threw a dart at a calendar to pick their filing date and kept rolling merrily along depositing random checks into bank accounts here and there and traveling to photograph a wedding while Paypal was getting $$ from blogger activity. Seems like she used her Paypal as a sort of "sweep account" rather than a place that hid money - but she sure should have disclosed them (plural).
I feel sorry for their BK attorney and their 5 kids.
