Who to list on Creditor Matrix

    Hi there,
I am working on a list of creditors and am unsure which creditors to include. Do I need to list cell phone providers, utilities, etc. if they are current with no balance due? Also, what about a daycare provider (no balance, but we pay every month) and kids' sports (again, no balance, but paid regularly). Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Utilities and other service providers are not creditors, unless you are behind on the payments. Those things are considered living expenses, not debts. The only time you would list a utility as a creditor is if you owe arrearages, or in the case of a cellphone or satellite TV if you wish to reject the contract and not pay early termination fees.

If you have deposits on file with your utilities, the Trustee may well be interested. Some utilities require a one or two or three month deposit, refundable after a certain number of on-time payments. If you have these, they should be listed (usually under income rather than a debt).

Yes, deposits are assets and are listed on Schedule B at line 3. That line number is specifically for utility deposits and even deposits with a landlord. As bcohen already wrote, a current utility account with no arrears should not be treated as a creditor and should not be on the mailing matrix. The exception is when there is a deposit, but even then you would not put them on the mailing matrix. In the case of a utility deposit, you would only note it on Schedule B (line 3).
